PLUS Activates 30 Smartlanes in NSE for Hari Raya Aidiladha

PLUS has activated 30 Smartlane zones along the North-South Expressway for the upcoming Aidiladha festive season.

PLUS has announced the activation of 30 Smartlane zones along the North-South Expressway (NSE) for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha festive season. These Smartlane locations span from Kedah to Johor, with several new stretches also being added as listed below:

For those unfamiliar with the concept, Smartlanes essentially involve the opening of highway emergency lanes for legal use by light vehicles. Often marked and located at high-density traffic zones, these Smartlanes are intended to smoothen the traffic flow with all available lanes on the highway being utilised.

The Smartlanes zones can be easily identified with signs and electronic signboards usually placed 1 km or 500 metres before the starting point. There are also lights along the Smartlanes to make motorists aware of them.

And as per normal highway lanes, motorists are advised to follow the highway speed limits when using these Smartlanes, although PLUS actually recommends that you drive below 60 km/h. Motorists are also advised to stick to the Smartlanes until the end and not merge back to the normal lanes.
