Proton Records Positive Sales Growth in May 2025

With 13,328 units shipped, Proton has recorded positive sales growth for the third consecutive month in May 2025.
National automaker Proton has charted yet another positive sales record in May 2025, as it delivered 13,328 units last month alone. This positive sales record now only marks a 6.1% year-on-year increase over May last year, but also its third consecutive time recording a positive monthly sales growth.

This strong sales record is attributed to the strong performance of some of its models, such as the Proton X70, where 982 units of said C-segment SUV were delivered last month—a 44% increase over the previous month. The X50 also charts positive numbers, with 2,198 units delivered, thus further strengthening its position as the best-selling B-SUV model in Malaysia.
Besides the SUVs, sales of Proton sedans have also increased positively, with the Saga charting a 5.8% increase in sales over the previous month at 5,513 units in May. The same goes for the Persona, where 1,385 units of the B-segment sedan were delivered last month, marking a 4.3% increase over April of this year.

Last but not least, the Proton S70 continues to lead the C-segment sedan market space with 1,763 units shipped—a 2.7% increase over the previous month.

Moving on to its new energy arm, the Proton e.MAS 7 continues its momentum as the nation’s best-selling EV model last month, with 916 units delivered last month—thus bringing its year-to-date volume to 3,632 units.

Beyond the Malaysian borders, Proton has also recorded some positive growth in its export volumes, where it grew by 36.6% compared to May last year. Proton attributed this positive export growth to the launch of the Proton Saga CKD programme in Egypt, as well as the introduction of the Proton e.MAS 7 in Nepal and Singapore.
Moving forward, Proton will begin to export the e.MAS 7 to other markets like Trinidad & Tobago, while the local market is expected to see several new and exciting models debuting in the second half of the year.
