Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo Unveiled Ahead of 2026 Racing Debut
The all-new Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo has been unveiled as the Prancing Horse’s new GT3 contender for 2026 and onwards.
It has been almost three years since Ferrari unveiled the 296 GT3 to the world, and the Prancing Horse marque has finally unveiled the updated version of its GT3 racer. Say hello to the all-new Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, which was unveiled at last week’s 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps endurance race, ahead of its racing debut later in 2026.
According to Ferrari, the new Evo racecar gains several significant upgrades, including revised aero parts that promise to make it “even more competitive in all conditions.” Keen eyes will notice that the Evo’s front bonnet features larger intakes that provide 20% more airflow to the front brakes for better cooling, while the front is now more profiled for better stability. Speaking of cooling, Ferrari designers have also integrated two NACA air intakes in the underbody part of the 296 GT3 Evo to improve the cooling for its steering pump.
Other tweaked aero parts include the redesigned wheel arch louvres borrowed from its LMGT3 twin to help deal with dirty air better, a more prominent front splitter and rear diffuser, and several new inlet channels for better downforce, while the rear wing is now equipped with a quick adjustment mechanism.
Beneath its carbon-clad body, Ferrari engineers have repositioned the 296 GT3 Evo’s twin-turbo V6 engine slightly further forward and tilted it by two degrees to reduce the centre of gravity and improve torsional rigidity, as well as make way for the aforementioned larger rear diffuser.
While the 600 hp and 710 Nm-rated 3.0-litre twin-turbo 120-degree V6 remains largely unchanged, Ferrari did tweak the six-speed sequential transmission to offer better torque delivery at both lower and higher speeds. Besides the tweaked gearbox, other mechanical upgrades primed here include the modified front and rear suspension kinematics to reduce loads on the damper components and better reliability.
On board, the new 296 GT3 Evo retains the same racing-centric cockpit setup as the current racer, featuring an F1-style yoke steering wheel with tons of buttons and dials, a full roll cage setup, and many more. For better comfort on long endurance races, Ferrari has tweaked the Evo’s A/C system by adding an extra fan to help with cooling.
As mentioned above, the all-new Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo will be making its racing debut next year, with its homologation process set to be completed once the final aerodynamic refinements are underway. All the upgrades given to the Evo racer will be offered as an upgrade kit for existing 296 GT3 customers, so no one is left out of this update.
During its two-year campaign, the Ferrari 296 GT3 has paved some successes in multiple racing series around the world, with its latest success being the double podium at the 77th edition of the aforementioned 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps endurance race.
