RHD Avatr 11 Launches in Singapore - Malaysia Next?

Avatr has officially entered neighbouring Singapore this week where it launched its Avatr 11 SUV model, confirming the availability of a right-hand drive(RHD) version in the process too.
Said EV SUV starts at SG$278,999 (approx. RM973,000), making it one of the priciest EVs on sale across the causeway. In contrast, the same model starts from just RMB289,900 (RM187,000) in China - nearly five times cheaper.
Singapore’s steep pricing is largely due to its strict car ownership policies, as buyers must secure a Certificate of Entitlement (CoE), which currently costs about SG$100,000 (RM349,000), on top of an Additional Registration Fee and other taxes.

The Avatr 11’s appearance in right-hand drive (RHD) form is significant. It signals a clear step toward expansion into other RHD markets in the region, especially Malaysia and Thailand, where EV adoption is rising.
The Avatr 11 is a sleek, mid-to-large size SUV measuring 4, 895 MM long with a 2,975 MM wheelbase. Two variants are offered in Singapore, that being a range-extended hybrid (EREV) and a battery electric (BEV) version too.

The EREV uses a rear-mounted 231 kW (310 HP) e-motor paired with a 1.5-litre petrol engine tasked as a generator. It is equipped with a 39.05 kWh LFP battery offering 225 KM of electric-only range and a total combined range of 1,065 KM.
Meanwhile, the BEV is available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD). The RWD variant produces 237 kW (318 HP) and yields 815 KM of range, whereas the AWD adds a second 165 kW (221 HP) motor up front and delivers 760 KM of range instead.

The top-spec AWD BEV guise sprints from 0-100 KM/H in just 3.9 secs. Top speed across the range is capped at 200 KM/H. Additionally, the BEV takes 35 minutes to charge from 0–80%, while the EREV takes just 15 minutes to deliver 30–80% re-charge cycles.
Inside, the Avatr 11 features Huawei’s ADS 3.0 advanced driver assistance system. The setup includes three LIDARs, 11 cameras, and a full suite of sensors, enabling highway and city navigation on autopilot, auto cruise, parking assist and remote parking.

In China, despite Avatr delivering over 10,000 vehicles in June, the Avatr 11 remains an unpopular model, accounting for just 153 units sold. The brand’s current line-up also includes the Avatr 06, 07, 011, 12 and 012.
With the RHD model now confirmed, attention naturally turns to Malaysia, and the same question will always pop up - are we next?
