KLIA Aerotrain To Undergo Overnight Works Starting Aug 18

Travellers passing through KL International Airport (KLIA) at night may need to swap the Aerotrain for a bus ride over the next two weeks.
Malaysia Airports announced that scheduled maintenance will run from Aug 18, with work taking place between midnight and 5am to avoid peak travel hours.
During that window, the Aerotrain service, which shuttles passengers between the Main Terminal and the Satellite Building will be paused.

Airside shuttle buses will take over, and passengers are urged to follow signs or seek help from on-ground staff.
“These works are part of our ongoing effort to keep the Aerotrain running at its best
We’ve been monitoring real-time data since the service began, and these adjustments will help improve responsiveness, safety and long-term reliability,” said Malaysia Airports managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani.
Among the upgrades is a new Automatic Vehicle Wash Plant (AVWP), a first for KLIA’s Aerotrain, replacing the previous manual cleaning process. The move is expected to improve maintenance efficiency and extend the lifespan of the train’s components.

Mohd Izani said the improvements were part of a broader plan to ensure KLIA remains a reliable and passenger-friendly hub.
“We’re committed to keeping journeys smooth and stress-free for travellers,” he added.
Since its launch, the Aerotrain has clocked more than 1,100 service hours, completed over 18,800 trips and carried more than two million passengers.
