Four-Day Road Ban On Heavy Vehicles For CNY 2025
According to the Transport Ministry's announcement, large vehicles delivering goods would be prohibited from using highways throughout the Chinese New Year festive season. The ban, which is enforced annually over the holiday season, will last four days: January 27 and 28, and February 1 and 2.
According to the announcement, the ban considers the substantial spike in traffic caused by people going back to their hometowns or vacation spots during the long break. “The main objective of the ban is to prevent traffic congestion and reduce the risk of road accidents involving heavy vehicles,” it said in a statement. The ministry added that as part of the police's Op Selamat safety operation, the National Speed Limit Reduction Order will be in force from January 28 to February 2.
To ensure compliance with the program, the road transport department (JPJ) will strengthen enforcement throughout the Chinese New Year season and in joint operations with other enforcement authorities.
