Report: Leapmotor C10 Won’t Get Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Until Next Generation
The Leapmotor C10 just launched in Australia recently and one particular detail confirmed by a brand exec could be a concern for some prospects...
If you’ve been eyeing up the Leapmotor C10 that recently launched here in Malaysia, we’re certain that the absence of both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (ACP & AA) connectivity in this offering might have caused some concern.
Sadly, we now have word that the D-segment EV SUV model’s sizeable 14.6-inch infotainment unit will NOT see neither suites equipped, at least in its current generation. This also comes despite the model’s highly connected nature where it even boasts over-the-air (OTA) software update abilities.
The C10's massive 14.6-inch infotainment unit will not see either Apple CarPlay (ACP) or Android Auto (AA) connectivity suites available, at least not in its current iteration, confirms a Leapmotor International exec.
This was confirmed by Francesco Giacolone, head of product and marketing at Leapmotor International, during the model’s recent official launch in Australia – one of the very latest markets to welcome said EV.
“As of now, C10 is coming with no Android [Auto] and Apple Carplay functionality,” Giacolone reportedly told local Australian press during the C10’s official launch there. The exec continued by noting that the C10’s current technical hardware isn’t capable of supporting either suites.
Instead, as a stop-gap solution, Australian buyers are offered an in-car app called QDLink. This is basically a smartphone mirroring app which still enables function like Goolge Maps whilst keeping Bluetooth functionalities alive for phone calls and other activities in the car, adds Giacalone.
Instead, the Leapmotor C10 will offer its QDLink smartphone mirroring app to Australian buyers as a stop-gap measure.
Though somewhat useful, it is less convenient and does not easily or seamlessly integrate into the infotainment as ACP & AA would. Furthermore, it is worth highlighting that the bulk of the Leapmotor C10’s peers like the Xpeng G6 we recently tested, offers ACP & AA from the get go.
No doubt, this could be a deal-breaker for many prospects when it comes to meeting this Sino-badged left-field alternative’s asking price.
As a refresher, Stellantis Malaysia launched the Leapmotor C10 locally in Oct 2024 with an RRP of RM159,000.
As a refresher, Stellantis Malaysia launched the Leapmotor C10 locally back in Oct 2024 with just one ‘Design’ variant offered priced at RM159,000. It packs a 69.9 kWh battery pack juicing a rear e-motor rated at 219 PS and 320 NM that promises 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 7.5 secs and claimed max rang of 424 KM.
Now armed with this information, would you still be keen on the Leapmotor C10 over its peers mentioned? Share your take in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…
