2026 Nissan Navara Teased, Debuts On Nov 19
At last, an all-new generation successor to the Nissan Navara 4x4 pick-up truck will debut next month on Nov 19. This was confirmed by the Japanese automaker’s Oceania regional arm, which also released the teaser video above.
It is understood this will be a global reveal, and sales will start first across both Australia and New Zealand within the first half (1H) of 2026. To say the Navara’s replacement was overdue might be an understatement – the current generation model first bowed some 11 years ago.
Current-gen Nissan Navara (NP300/D23) pictured in recently introduced 'X-Tremer' guise.

Known by either its D23 or NP300 chassis codes, Nissan’s outgoing third-gen pick-up truck offering is renowned in most markets for its adoption of a road-friendly multi-link rear suspension assembly instead of typical and arguably more robust leafsprings – though options with the latter are still offered.
In its 11-year span, the Navara has undergone countless minor revisions, with the latest one done locally by brand principals Edaran Tan Chong Malaysia (ETCM) being the ‘X-Tremer’ guise. Notably, there will be one major change in the upcoming fourth-gen model teased.
Firstly, sources report the new Navara will share the same base as the Mitsubishi Triton, but will sport enough key visual differences to set itself apart.

As reported prior, Nissan’s new fourth-gen pick-up truck will share the same bones as the latest third-gen Mitsubishi Triton – both Nissan and Mitsubishi are part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, hence the platform-sharing deal.
Nissan did adamantly promised the new Navara will be “more than a rebadged Mitsubishi,” though there are signs showing otherwise…

Australian sources online further report that both the third-gen Triton and upcoming fourth-gen Navara will share the same ladder-frame base, and both will also be manufactured in Thailand at the tri-diamond marque’s plant.
Reports citing insiders who attended a closed-door preview also stressed there will be enough visual differences between the two. Closer inspection does however reveal the new Navara will still share the Triton’s cabin structure, bonnet, doors, windows, rear wheel arches, as well as the creases over both the front and rear wheels.
Note the new C-shaped taillights and uniquely different flatbed sportbar design - details that sets this Navara apart from the Triton it twins.

The Navara will however boasts a distinctively different pair of headlights featuring a unique daytime running lights (DRLs) cluster formed using a single LED bar. The lower headlight clusters are shared in both shape and size, whereas the rear sees different C-shaped taillight clusters plus a uniquely different flatbed sportbar design.
Aesthetics aside, what goes undisclosed still is if the new Nissan Navara teased will also share the same powertrain package as the Mitsubsihi Triton it twins. As a refresher, Malaysia-bound Triton models pack a new 4N16 ‘Hyperpower’ 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel lump with up to four output levels peaking at 204 PS and 470 Nm.

Said mill is paired with an improved 6-speed manual transmission choice with reduced vibration, followed by a 6-speed automatic choice that boasts a ‘Sports’ mode function. For the Triton, it also packs the Mitsubishi brand's signature Super Select 4WD-II driveline offering four-selectable modes (2H, 4H, 4HLc and 4LLC) on top of seven drive and terrain modes.
Traditional turbo-diesel powertrain choices aside, sources further report alleging that Nissan could also adopt Mitsubishi’s plug-in hybrid powertrain tech in this new Navara for the Australian and New Zealand markets. However, this may only materialise at a later stage.
Expect more details to be released once the new Nissan Navara is revealed globally next month. In the meantime, what do you folks think? Could this be something worth waiting for? Share your thoughts in the comments below…
