AFA PRIME Berhad, concessionaire of the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), has issued a Deepavali 2025 travel time advisory (TTA) and introduced enhanced traffic and safety measures ahead of the expected festive surge.

With the celebration falling on Monday, Oct 20, eastbound traffic towards Pahang and the East Coast is expected to peak between Oct 17 and 19, while the return flow to Kuala Lumpur will take place from Oct 20 to 22.

Traffic along KLK is projected to rise by 59%, from an average of 110,000 to 175,000 vehicles daily, while LPT1 will see a 67% increase from 41,000 to 68,300 vehicles per day. To manage the higher volumes, AFA PRIME has expanded its operational workforce by 20.5%, deploying more toll operators, patrol units, and traffic personnel across key points.

In addition to 24-hour real-time monitoring, Expressway Mobile Police Vehicles (EMPV) from PDRM will be stationed at Gombak, Temerloh, and Kuantan, while JPJ officers will be on standby at weighbridge stations in Gombak, Karak, Temerloh, Maran, and Kuantan to ensure smoother traffic flow.

Facilities along KLK and LPT1 have been upgraded with extra portable toilets, additional parking, and increased cleaning teams to maintain comfort and hygiene. All petrol stations along both expressways will operate 24 hours, while Gentari’s EV charging facilities remain available at Petronas R&R Gambang in both directions.

To reduce congestion, motorists from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor on Oct 18 are advised to enter Plaza Tol Gombak between 12PM and 4PM or 8PM and 11PM for Pahang, 9AM and 12PM or 8PM and 11PM for Terengganu, and 6AM and 9AM or 5PM and 8PM for Kelantan.

Motorists are reminded to avoid entering Tol Gombak between 9.30AM and 12PM, and 9.30PM and 12AM to prevent congestion. For emergencies, contact AFA PRIME’s 24-hour hotline at 1-700-818-700 or follow @LPTTrafik for real-time updates.
