TTA: 63% Traffic Surge On KLK and LPT1 Expected During CNY 2025

AFA PRIME Berhad (formerly ANIH Berhad) has announced its Travel Time Advisory (TTA) and safety measures for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations. This aims to ensure smooth travel on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1).
Traffic on KLK and LPT1 is expected to surge during the festive period. Eastbound travel will peak between 24 and 28 Jan, while westbound traffic will rise from 30 Jan to 3 Feb. Daily traffic on KLK is forecasted to increase by 63%, from 110,000 to 179,100 vehicles. LPT1 will see a 57% rise, from 41,000 to 64,500 vehicles.
AFA PRIME has provided a recommended TTA to help ease congestion. Vehicles departing from Kuala Lumpur or Selangor via the Gombak Toll Plaza on 25, 26, and 28 Jan are advised to travel to Pahang between 10 AM and 2 PM or from 4 PM to 6 PM. For those heading to Terengganu, the suggested times are 8 AM to 10 AM or 6 PM to 8 PM, while travelers to Kelantan should depart between 6 AM and 8 AM or 8 PM and 10 PM.

For westbound traffic heading into Kuala Lumpur or Selangor on 1 and 2 Feb, vehicles traveling from Pahang via the all Toll Plaza should plan their journeys between 6 AM and 10 AM or from 7 PM to 11 PM. Travelers from Terengganu via the Jabor Toll Plaza are advised to depart between 11 AM and 2 PM or 8 PM and 10 PM, while those from Kelantan via the Bentong Toll Plaza should travel between 7 PM and 9 PM or 11 PM and 12 AM.
Express buses exiting the Gombak Toll Plaza are encouraged to depart between 9:30 AM and 12 PM or from 9:30 PM to 12 AM. Free travel times, applicable daily, are from 12 AM to 6 AM.
To manage the increase in traffic, AFA PRIME will increase its workforce by 20% and open additional toll lanes at all plazas to manage the traffic. No lanes on the expressway will be closed from 23 Jan to 3 Feb, except for emergencies or critical maintenance.
The Traffic Division will expand by 20.5%, ensuring 24-hour monitoring via the Traffic Control Centre, LPT-RONDA units and tow truck services. Traffic supervisors and RELA personnel will assist with traffic management at toll plazas, rest stops, and lay-bys.
Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys and follow real-time updates via the company’s official twitter channel - @LPTTrafik or call its hotline at 1-700-818-700.
