First Look: Here’s The Proton e.MAS 5 In FULL Sans Camouflage!
At last, we can now show you the Proton e.MAS 5 in full WITHOUT camouflage!

At last, with another embargo finally lifted, we are now able to give you a proper look at the Proton e.MAS 5 sans any camouflage. As a refresher, what’s bound to be “Malaysia’s most affordable EV” is set to officially launch later this week.
Ahead of which, we’ve already driven the e.MAS 5 on Proton’s Shah Alam test track, and you can get up to speed with it through our in-depth test-drive report by clicking here. To sum it up, the e.MAS 5 proved to be a comfy, zippy and silent EV hatch to drive.
Now, we can tell also you all those traits are paired with a rather stylish exterior design that’s both well-rounded and well-proportioned – at least in our eyes. Having also clapped eyes on its Geely-badged twin in the flesh prior, we’ll also admit the differences between both are minute.
Some of the changes are of course customary, like the signature Proton e.MAS tiger badge up front, followed by the Proton script badge running across the tailgate’s mid-section, and e.MAS 5 model badge in the tailgate’s lower right side.

Some changes are customary, like the Proton e.MAS tiger badge up front, as well as the tailgate's Proton script and e.MAS 5 model badges.

What’s refreshing here is the absence of a full-width LED lightbar in the tailgate – a rather overrated design trend in most EVs today, if you asked us.
What’s certain too is that the e.MAS 5 is indeed petite at 4,135 MM long with a 2,650 MM wheelbase, 1,805 MM wide and 1,570 MM tall – it fits within the Proton Iriz hatch’s footprint.
Note the refreshing absence of a full-width LED lightbar - a popular but overrated EV design trend - in the tailgate of the e.MAS 5.

Proton didn’t alter much in its e.MAS 5 redux of the Geely Xingyuan (Starwish). This is evident in both the all-LED head- and taillights, the two-tone 16-inch rolling stock, as well as the subtle SUV-like black body cladding in the bumpers, side skirts, and wheel arches.
What is striking here is the two-tone exterior paint, which sees the exclusive ‘Marble Cream’ body colour pictured – one of two exclusive hues reserved for the Premium variant – get offset with a gloss black roof and pillars to give it that very upmarket ‘floating roof’ look.
Look closely and you’ll even find an ‘easter egg’ in the form of intricate patterns seemingly carved into the C-Pillar garnish. This arguably adds some character overall too.
What adds character here are touches like the gloss black 'floating roof' scheme.

Speaking of colours, the Premium variant will also gain another exclusive – and rather ‘feminine’ – Quartz Rose choice. Shared across both are the choices between Moonstone White, Graphite Silver and Slate Grey choices.
Certainly, we reckon many prospecting viewers will appreciate just how minimalist and rather clean the e.MAS 5 looks from all sides – just like its larger e.MAS 7 EV C-SUV stablemate. We’ll agree its far from ‘sporty’, but we're certain many of you are already digging the curvaceous and friendly stance instead.
Patterns 'carved' into the C-pillar garnish also help to add 'character' to this friendly and rouded-looking EV hatch that launches later this week.

We’ll have more details from its official launch later this week. Until then, we’ll let the rest of the images in the gallery prepared below speak for itself.
Overall, how do you folks find the Proton e.MAS 5 then? Share your take in the comments below…
