Face-lifted 2026 Peugeot 408 Range Bows – Sleeker Styling, Light Improvements
Stellantis-owned French marque Peugeot recently unwrapped a face-lifted 2026MY iteration of its staple 408 C-segment fastback crossover.

The Peugeot 408 fastback crossover has been face-lifted for the 2026 model year. Revealed globally earlier this week, the French marque’s staple C-segment crossover offering has gained sleeker looks that masks mild improvements underneath which.
Much of the visual styling changes are akin to what we saw in the face-lifted Peugeot 308 hatch that bowed in Aug 2025. Key to which is the main-beam headlights now placed lower up front, giving more room for the ‘three-claw’ LED DRLs to stand out better.
At the rear, the ‘Peugeot’ script badge primed in the tailgate is now back-lit, making it the first in the brand’s current models line-up to feature which. Otherwise, there aren’t much changes to note visually – yes, the odd ‘Monolithe’ 20-inch design option also remains.

Up front, the main-beam headlights are now placed lower, thus giving more room for the three-claw LED DRLs to be more prominent.

Mechanically, there are no changes in terms of choice as the 408 continues to see two hybrid and one all-electric (EV) choices on hand for the European market. Notably, the EV variant – badged as the e-408 – now boasts slightly longer range – 456 KM (WLTP).
As a refresher, the e-408 noted packs a 58.2 kWh battery pack to juice a front e-motor driving the wheels with 213 PS and 343 Nm. The slightly improved range noted – 2 KM more than before – stemmed from newly added aerodynamic underbody cladding.
Moving to the 408 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) guise, it also sees an improved electric-only range of 85 KM – up from 80 KM previously – from its 14.6 kWh battery pack. This variant continues to harness a 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol lump too, altogether offering 240 PS.
CHanges are scarce on board, meaning the 408 continues to rock the marque's novel aviation-inspited "i-cockpit" design theme.

On board, the 408 remains relatively unchanged to say the least. In other words, it continues to adopt the Peugeot marque’s stylish flight-inspired i-Cockpit design theme – ‘compact’ steering wheel plus digital displays and touch control interfaces included.
All that aside, there seems to be no further changes to note. Certainly, if you liked how the 408 looked and drove before, this refresh with arguably sleeker light styling change might just tickle your fancy. However, when this might come locally remains unclear.
In fact, rumours were rife that parent firm Stellantis – via its Stellantis Malaysia national sales company arm – had halted its efforts for the French silver lion marque locally. Based on a recent response posted via social media, that doesn’t seem to be case.
Said response included the messages of “Here to stay” and “Built for the long drive.” Notable too was the message embedded in the accompanying caption that firstly denied the rumours noted followed by a promise of “not going anywhere – except forward.”

Whilst that sounds promising, perhaps what is more telling will be how fast will Stellantis Malaysia take to introduce the face-lifted 408 detailed. We’ll remind you that the current 408 model for Malaysia is locally produced (CKD) by said firm at its plant in Gurun, Kedah.
Launched back in April 2024, the Peugeot 408 is available across three guises – Allure, Premium and GT. All share the same 1.6-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol heart with 218 hp and 300 Nm outputs priced at RM146,055 (Allure), RM166,055 (Premium) and RM196,055 (GT).
