JPJ Issued Over 4,000 Notices for Heavy Vehicle Speed Limiter Compliance

Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed that 4,295 notices have been issued so far to heavy vehicle operators as part of ongoing checks to verify the installation of speed limiter devices (SLD).
The move, he said, is a key step to ensure every heavy vehicle meets safety requirements aimed at curbing accidents linked to speeding.

Once a notice is served, vehicle owners are given two weeks to confirm that the system has been installed and to return to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) for validation. Those who comply within the timeframe will not face penalties or summonses.
Loke said the enforcement drive has encouraged more operators to act, with a noticeable rise in SLD installations following the notices.

He also noted that JPJ has stepped up enforcement on the use of seat belts in buses owned by express operators, tour companies, and higher learning institutions. “If a bus comes with seat belts, wearing them is compulsory, no exceptions,” he stressed.
Speaking at the opening of the new Bentong JPJ branch, Loke said the RM10.4 million facility, developed under the 11th Malaysia Plan, sits on 1.58 acres. Construction began in March 2023 and was completed in Aug before operations commenced in early Sept.
