KLIA Aerotrain To Stop Nightly From Nov 15 For Reliability Upgrades

KLIA’s Aerotrain at Terminal 1 will be out of service nightly from 9PM to 7AM starting tomorrow for about a month while Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) carries out a major technical upgrade.
“Our priority is to make sure the Aerotrain is safe and reliable, and this plan lets us tackle the root causes of past disruptions while keeping passengers protected,” said MAHB managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani.
During the nightly suspension, buses will run between the main terminal and the satellite building, and more flights will operate from the main terminal to cut down transfers.

“We expect the work to take around a month, until Dec 15,” Izani added.
The upgrade will be carried out in three stages. The first stage focuses on inspections and fixing key faults. The second stage covers testing, software updates, and stress checks. The final stage involves trial operations to ensure everything runs smoothly before full service resumes.
Independent audits and a safety check by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) will provide extra assurance.

Since resuming service on July 1, the Aerotrain has carried over seven million passengers and completed more than 53,000 trips, with a 98.4% operational record.
