LEPAS Malaysia Gears Up for 2026 – L8 and L6 PHEVs Coming?

Lepas Malaysia recently held its Media Connection Session, giving local media an early look at the brand’s vision, design direction, and upcoming products ahead of its official launch next year.
Branding Director Crystal Zhang opened the session, followed by presentations from Deputy CEO Zhong Wei and Global Product Director Ge Yong. They explained that Lepas, a new sub-brand under the Chery Group, was created to redefine elegant mobility for a new generation of drivers.

Zhong described Lepas as blending beauty and intelligence into daily life, inspired by the grace of a leopard, the forward-thinking spirit of a leap, and the passion of urban users. The brand targets confident, creative individuals who want their cars to reflect their lifestyle.

He highlighted the focus on distinctive design, refined intelligent technology, and interiors crafted as a relaxing “third living space.” Malaysian showrooms will follow luxury retail concepts to reinforce a premium experience.

Lepas’s “Elegant-Technology” philosophy is built around four pillars: the new energy platform, elegant driving performance, intelligent cabin evolution, and cutting-edge innovations.
Brand-exclusive technologies include EV power systems, safety engineering, smart cabin features, and next-generation components such as solid-state batteries and the Kunpeng high-efficiency engine.

The global design team shared how the brand’s visual identity is shaped by leopard-inspired lines, jewellery-like exterior detailing, and interiors influenced by skylines and flowing water. Natural colours and textures throughout the cabin create a calming, elegant atmosphere.
Product Director Ge Yong introduced models on Chery’s NEV platform, designed for advanced hybrid and EV powertrains. The flagship L8 features a long wheelbase, generous rear legroom, intelligent seat modes, and a Super Hybrid system offering over 100 km EV range and more than 1,300 km combined range.

The L6 meanwhile is a more youthful, urban-oriented option with the same design DNA, modern interfaces, practical performance, and vibrant styling. Media who test-drove Lepas vehicles in China praised their comfort, quietness, reclining rear seats, and stable driving.

Lepas confirmed its Malaysian launch in early 2026 (H1 2026), with the L8 and L6, featuring a strong focus on PHEV offerings expected in the second half of the year, while the smaller L4 potentially joining the lineup later. Safety development follows 2026 Euro NCAP five-star standards, using high-strength materials and real-world crash simulations.
To foster a lifestyle community, Lepas is launching its Global Elegant Lifestyle Partner Program, encouraging users to co-create a refined, confident, and stylish mobility experience.
