Lepas Opens First Global Showroom in Indonesia — Malaysia Next?

When Chery Group picked Malaysia to host the world’s first iCaur showroom, it was widely seen as recognition of the country’s rising importance within the group’s global plans. For Lepas, however, that first honour went a little further east.
The premium NEV brand has now opened its first-ever showroom in Jakarta, Indonesia, a move that signals how seriously it is taking its push onto the global stage.
Set in Jakarta’s upmarket Kelapa Gading district, the showroom departs from the typical car retail format, placing emphasis on design, technology and customer experience as part of the Lepas sub-brand’s broader premium positioning.

Unsurprisingly, the Lepas L8 took centre stage at the showroom. As the brand’s first and flagship model, it offers an early indication of Lepas’s design direction and technology focus. Adding a more futuristic element was AiMOGA, an intelligent showroom robot that greeted visitors and explained the vehicle’s features.
The facility was developed in partnership with PT Mitra Auto Sinergi and sits on 1,600 sqm of land. It brings Sales, Service and Spare Parts (3S) together under one roof, designed to take customers from their first visit through to long-term ownership without friction.
“This showroom is not just a building,” said Djunaedi Hadiwidjaja, Director of PT Mitra Auto Sinergi. “It reflects our commitment to delivering an experience that stays true to the Lepas character — elegant, professional and customer-focused.”

Indonesia’s role as Lepas’s starting point is no coincidence. With a fast-growing NEV market and increasingly discerning buyers, it offers a realistic testing ground for the brand’s global standards. Zeng Shuo, President Director of LEPAS Indonesia, said the Jakarta showroom is intended to form the blueprint for future Lepas markets.
That expansion is already taking shape. Malaysia has been confirmed as the next stop, with the Lepas L8 and L6 expected to arrive in Q1 and Q2 2026. PHEV variants are slated for the second half of the year, while the smaller L4 could join the range at a later stage.

Beyond products, Lepas is also trying to build a community around the brand. Through its Global Elegant Lifestyle Partner Program (GELPP), customers are encouraged to shape a more personal and expressive ownership experience - one that goes beyond the car itself.

With its first showroom now open in Indonesia and Malaysia next in line, attention will naturally turn to where Lepas fits within Chery Group’s increasingly crowded Malaysian portfolio, which already includes Chery, Omoda, Jaecoo and iCaur.
How clearly Lepas can carve out its own space, without overlapping on pricing or positioning will be one of the more interesting questions as the brand moves closer to its local debut.
