As we inch closer to the scheduled global debut of the new generation Nissan Navara next week on Nov 19, a few more details have emerged. In fact, Nissan even reportedly promises that its first new Navara model in a decade will “not drive like a Triton.”

As a refresher, the upcoming new generation Navara is set to share the same ladder frame bones as the latest third-gen Mitsubishi Triton – a move borne out of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.

The promise of having ‘unique’ drive dynamics from its Mitsubishi twin mentioned stems from the fact that Nissan had roped in Melbourne-based consultants Premcar to assist in said new pick-up truck model’s development.

The Australian firm was enlisted to “develop and test the new Navara’s suspension.” Not only is the firm, renowned for creating Nissan’s Warrior series Patrol and current-gen Navara specials marketed Down Under, evaluating its performance, but they’re also adjusting things for the automaker.

Key Australian media outlets familiar with the firm even touts that the new Navara may gain a different edge both on- and off-road versus its Mitsubishi Triton twin – it will reportedly still share a vast majority of its hardware and components with which.

Visual differences and the promise of a 'unique' drive dynamics aside, the next-gen Navara (top) will share the same 2.4-litre 'Hyperpower' 4-cyl twin-turbo diesel powertrain as brimmed in the third-gen Mitsubishi Triton (above).

As reported prior, the new Nissan Navara will bear distinct visual differences like a unique grille, lower bumper, headlights, as well as a different flatbed sports bar and wheels designs. Retained from the Triton though are the main body structures, doors and overall footprint.

Mechanically, the new Navara is poised to share the Triton’s 2.4-litre ‘Hyperpower’ 4-cyl twin-turbo diesel mill that boasts peak outputs of 204 PS and 470 Nm in the range-topping Athlete guise – at least 184 PS and 430 Nm are available in lower-end guises.

Expect more details as soon as the new generation Nissan Navara bows next week on Nov 19.
