RTS Link 65% Complete, First Train Arriving This Month
Malaysia’s long-awaited Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore is officially 65% complete, with the first train set expected to arrive this month, Malay Mail has reported.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the project is moving steadily, with trial runs set to begin in Dec once the system’s technical checks are ready.
“Today marks my first visit to the site since the completion of the main structure
“The first train set is expected at the Wadi Hana Depot by mid-November,” he said during a site visit in Johor Bahru.
The minister further stated that the viaduct connecting both countries is now 91% complete, while Bukit Chagar Station and the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex are 73% and 77% done, respectively.
The trial phase, however, won’t be open to the public.
"This round of testing is crucial for system integration, safety inspections, and signalling trials to ensure everything runs smoothly before launch," Loke explained.

RTS Operations (RTSO) CEO Dr Ahmad Marzuki Ariffin said one train will be delivered from Singapore first, followed by three more train sets from Batu Gajah by the end of the year.
Stretching roughly 4 kilometres, the RTS Link will connect Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru directly to Woodlands North in Singapore, helping ease daily congestion at the Causeway.
