Nissan Teases New Nismo Concept Ahead of TAS 2026 Debut

Nissan has published a teaser image of a mysterious Nismo concept ahead of its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.
As we edge closer to the end of 2025, some automakers have started to offer up a first look at what customers can anticipate for 2026. One of those brands is Nissan, as it has published a new teaser image showcasing a mysterious Nismo concept, which is set to make its global debut at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) 2026.
The single teaser image reveals a section of the concept’s rear end, and given how close-up the shot was, it is really open to interpretation. From its angled shape alone, this mysterious model could be anything from a sports coupe to a hot-hatch, or even a sporty performance crossover.

One key design element that can be seen here is the horizontal taillights that are positioned beneath what looks like a sporty lip spoiler. Upon further inspection, we can also see several vertical air vents sculpted into the outer edges of the car's flared-out rear fender, while the rear windscreen appears to be angled downwards, which makes our initial guesses more probable.
Another mysterious thing is what the concept will run on, with the existing evidence simply not giving us enough details to even make an assumption. Be it full combustion or pure electric, this Nismo concept could give us a glimpse at Nissan’s future, as the brand now tries to manoeuvre out of its own troubles.
Aside from this mysterious concept, Nissan also confirms a separate Nismo prototype is poised to make its competitive debut later in 2026, with a production version set to follow in the future. That said, it remains unclear whether this prototype would be the same model as the unnamed concept.

Updated 2026 Nissan Fairlady Z Nismo
Concepts and prototypes aside, Nissan is also set to unveil the latest 2026 version of the Nissan Fairlady Z Nismo, which will make its domestic market debut later in summer next year. Minor and subtle changes aside, the most prominent update for the 2026 model will be the inclusion of a manual transmission option, and surely this is great news for Nissan enthusiasts.

Also set to debut at Nissan’s TAS 2026 foyer are a specially-modified X-Trail Rock Creek Multibed Wildplay SUV designed for camping adventures, the previously-shown Leaf EV with the Autech trim, and a fully restored March hatchback with a stick-shift mod.
Not to forget, the original Motul Autech GT-R racecar from the 2016 Super GT series will also be on display, in commemoration of the retirement of its driver, Tsugio Matsuda.
