Nissan Z Nismo Debuts with 420 HP-rated V6 and Improved Chassis

2024 Nissan Z Nismo officially debuts today!
Following its action-packed teaser last month, Nissan has finally unveiled the all-new Nissan Z Nismo to the world today. Just like the GT-R Nismo, the Z Nismo gets better power, better chassis tuning and aerodynamics, as well as a slew of styling updates.

The Nissan Z Nismo is only offered with an automatic gearbox
While the Z Nismo employs the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 mill as the standard Z model, folks at Nismo have added more boost and tweaked the cooling system. As a result, this same V6 mill now delivers 420 HP and 521 NM – an extra 20 HP and 46 NM over the standard Z model. Bad news for petrolheads, however, as the Z Nismo only comes with a Nismo-tuned 9-speed automatic gearbox, which facilitates the power delivery to its rear wheels (RWD).

Aside from the improved powertrain, the Z Nismo also gets improved chassis work, where Nismo folks have installed new sway bars, some extra underfloor bracings, as well as some bushings to both the suspension and steering systems. Speaking of suspension, the damper system has been re-tuned, making it 2.5% stiffer compared to the standard Z, while the braking system gets bigger rotors – 15-inch for the front, 13.8-inch for the rear.

Beyond the mechanical bits, the Nismo treatment also grants the new Z Nismo with a slew of Nismo parts – which adds both aero and styling benefits. Up front, the Z Nismo gets a new ‘Grand-Nose’ front fascia, featuring gloss black-finished mesh front grille cover and prominent front lip spoiler with red accents and canards at the edge.

The latter combines with the Nismo side sills and slightly larger ducktail spoiler to not only make the Z Nismo look more aggressive, but also adding extra downforce to the car. Elsewhere, the Z Nismo features GT-R-inspired tailgate design with prominent gloss-black bumper accents, while riding on Nismo-specific Rays 19-inch wheels shod with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600s – the same tyre used on the US-spec GT-R Nismo.

On board, the Z Nismo gets more Nismo-specific aesthetics upgrade. Highlights include the black and red-hued Recaro seats with Nismo embroidery, plethora of red trims and accents, as well as Nismo-specific animations on the digital instrument cluster. Besides that, the Z Nismo also gains new Sport+ driving mode, which alters the gear shift programming to be more responsive and aggressive.
In spite of its sporty facade, the Z Nismo still comes with several modern and safety equipment. This includes a 9-inch infotainment screen that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while ADAS functions like blind-spot monitoring (BSM), forward collision warning (FCW) and lane-departure warning (LDW) can all be found here.

The new Nissan Z Nismo is available in five colourways – Passion Red TriCoat, Brilliant Silver, Black Diamond Pearl, Everest White Pearl TriCoat, and Stealth Gray – the latter being a Nismo-exclusive hue. Nissan, however, has yet to unveil the Z Nismo’s price tag. With the range-topping Nissan Z Performance already costing $52,085 (RM235,137), we won’t be surprised if this new Nismo model fetches a price tag north of $60,000 (RM270,870).
