Toyota Gazoo Racing and Lexus just revealed the next chapter of their high performance legacy. The GR GT, GR GT3, and new Lexus LFA Concept arrive with a shared mission to keep pure sports cars alive for the next generation.
This idea is inspired by Shikinen Sengu. Toyota believes the craftsmanship of performance cars deserves the same respect and care, passed down to the next generation by combining proven skill with new technology.

The GR GT is positioned as the spiritual successor to icons like the Toyota 2000GT and the Lexus LFA. It uses a front engine and rear wheel drive layout, shaped through real world track development including the involvement of Chairman Akio Toyoda, also known as Morizo.

Power comes from a newly developed 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 paired with hybrid assistance. The single electric motor is integrated into the rear transaxle alongside an 8-speed wet clutch automatic transmission. Toyota is targeting at least 640 hp (478 kW) and 850 Nm, promising a thrilling performance experience.
A low center of gravity was a major goal. The dry sump lubrication system has been significantly lowered, key components sit deep in the chassis, and the rear mounted transaxle balances weight distribution. The result is a 45:55 front to rear balance for sharp and stable handling.

The GR GT also marks the first time Toyota has used an all aluminum frame. With additional use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic and lightweight materials, Toyota aims for a curb weight of 1750 KG or lower. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and carbon ceramic Brembo brakes have been chosen to ensure serious track capability. Toyota claims a top speed greater than 320 km/h.

The GR GT3 meanwhile takes this foundation and adapts it fully for racing. It is built to FIA GT3 regulations for teams competing in top international championships. Toyota plans strong support for customer racing outfits as this model enters race series around the world.

As for the Lexus LFA Concept, it is designed for a battery electric future. It aims to show that electric power can still deliver emotion and excitement. Lexus wants this new model to carry the same passion as the original V10 LFA, but with zero emissions performance.
