Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR Debuts as a Limited-Edition, Track-Focused Hot Hatch

The all-new Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR debuts as a track-focused, 200-unit-only limited edition hot hatch.
Toyota has kicked off the Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) 2026 on a high note by unveiling its latest limited-edition model, the Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR. Limited to only 200 units worldwide, this latest version of Toyota’s rally-homologated three-door hot hatch is said to be the most extreme and track-focused version of the car, with chairman Akio Toyoda himself giving direct input in its development.
Unlike its WRC twin, the GR Yaris Morizo RR builds on lessons the automaker learned from its endurance racing ventures, particularly the famed Nurburgring 24 Hours, where Master Driver Morizo (Akio’s racing nickname) himself participated in last year’s edition.

Akio Toyoda (second from right) participated in the 2025 edition of 24 Hours Nurburgring endurance race with the GR Yaris under the Toyot Gazoo Rookie Racing banner.
Driving a No. 109 GR Yaris with the 8-speed direct automatic gearbox fielded by Toyota Gazoo Rookie Racing (TGRR), Morizo has managed to complete 15 laps around the notorious Green Hell, which was more than what was originally planned.

Leveraging Morizo’s racing-honed inputs, Toyota engineers have given the GR Yaris Morizo RR several key mechanical upgrades, including the new suspension tuning made using data directly derived from the boss’ Nurburgring run.
To go with the new tuning, the automaker also modified the car’s electric power steering (EPS) system, promising that this new combo will allow drivers to enjoy “driver-vehicle interaction that is unique to Morizo RR models.”

The Morizo RR also benefits from an exclusive 4WD control mode that is again developed together with Morizo himself, in which the new “Morizo” mode with a 50:50 power distribution replaces the previously available “Gravel” variant on the base model.

No upgrades were mentioned to take place on its engine setup, so we assume that the Morizo RR gets the same 1.6-litre 3-cyl turbocharged unit used on the standard GR Yaris, which outputs 300 PS and 400 Nm. And yes, the Morizo RR comes exclusively with the 8-speed AT gearbox option, with no stick-shift option mentioned.

But perhaps the most prominent upgrade given to the Morizo RR lies in the visuals, where the hot hatch gains a slew of aggressive aerodynamic parts such as both the carbon fibre hood and the massive rear wing, the GT-style front spoiler, and the side skirts—the latter two being finished in the Piano Black hue.

Said parts are joined by the 18-inch BBS forged wheels that are now finished in Matte Bronze, Morizo’s signature yellow-hued brake callipers, and a special Gravel Khaki exterior colourway.

The innards of the Morizo RR have also changed, with the button-laden steering wheel now featuring a smaller diameter, redesigned paddle shifters, and new suede upholstery for better grip. The new switches layout on the steering wheel is based on the GR Yaris Rally2 rally car, while an exclusive serial-number plate with a Morizo RR logo helps you to distinguish this special against its vanilla siblings.
As of now, Toyota has yet to announce the official pricing for this limited-edition Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR. But given only 200 units will be produced, and 100 of them are heading exclusively to the Japanese domestic market, expect this special hot hatch to fetch extra premiums over the standard GR Yaris.
