Kia EV2 Breaks Cover as Brand’s New Entry-Level EV Crossover

The all-new Kia EV2 breaks cover at the Brussels Motor Show as the brand’s new entry-level EV crossover.
Almost one year since its concept was previewed, Kia has now unveiled its latest and smallest EV to date, the Kia EV2. Unveiled globally in Europe at the ongoing Brussels Motor Show 2026, the supermini-sized EV2 is developed with a target price of below €30,000 (RM142,344), thus making it on par with other popular European entry-level EVs.
As the sixth Kia model to use Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the new EV2 draws many design inspirations from its bigger siblings, particularly the flagship EV9 SUV, but in a much smaller B-segment crossover footprint.

Key highlights include Kia’s revised ‘Tiger Face’ front end that features dual L-shaped LED DRLs and vertical headlights, a boxy SUV-esque bodystyle with prominent plastic underbody claddings, flushed door handles, lower-mounted LED taillights with matching L-shaped lighting signatures, and 16- to 18-inch wheel options.

And as with any other Kia EVs, the EV2 will also be offered in a sportier GT-Line trim, which adds a slew of sporty parts like the GT-Line bodykit and larger 19-inch GT-Line wheels, to name a few.

Dimension-wise, the new EV2 sits 4,060 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,575 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,565 mm, thus putting it on par with other popular compact EVs in Europe such as the Renault 4, the upcoming Volkswagen ID.Polo, and many more.

Despite its entry-level moniker, the EV2 offers a pretty livable cabin space brimmed with essential comfort amenities and surprisingly decent practicality—at least according to Kia. Some highlights primed here include a dual 12.3-inch screen setup with an AI-powered voice assistant, a separate 5-inch control panel for climate control, a flexible central console, multi-colour ambient lights, premium fabric upholstery, and more.
As for the cargo spaces, Kia touts a sizable 362-litre boot area that can be expanded to 403 litres with the rear seats positioned fully forward, plus an extra frunk space with a “class-leading” dimension of 15 litres is also available at your disposal.

Two powertrain options are available for the new EV2, both underpinning a 400-volt version of the E-GMP architecture. The entry-level Standard Range variant features a smaller 42.2 kWh LFP battery pack that is good for up to 317 km of WLTP range, while drive is provided by a single FWD motor rated at 145 hp.
The Long Range variant, on the other hand, benefits from a larger 61 kWh NMC pack that can provide up to 448 km of WLTP range, thus putting the EV2 ahead of other European compact EVs. That said, the LR version will get a less peppy single FWD motor unit delivering 134 hp, with no dual-motor variants announced for now.

Production of the all-new Kia EV2 will begin sometime in the first quarter of 2026 (Q1 2026) with the Standard Range model, followed by both the Long Range and GT-Line variants later throughout the year—all taking place at Kia’s European production facility in Zilina, Slovakia. Market launch timings will be announced soon, with the European market set to become among the first to get them officially.
