BYD Atto 3 Evo: 800V Architecture, 449 PS and 220 kW DC Charging

BYD has officially revealed the Atto 3 Evo, a heavily updated version of the electric SUV that marked the brand’s breakthrough in many global markets. Bookings are now open, with first deliveries scheduled to begin in Q2 2026.
The Atto 3 Evo now sits on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 with an advanced 800V architecture, bringing meaningful gains in performance and charging. Despite the major mechanical update, its exterior dimensions and overall design remain largely unchanged, retaining the familiar proportions that made the original Atto 3 popular.

The SUV measures 4,455 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,615 mm tall, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, positioning it firmly in the compact electric SUV segment.
In Europe, the Atto 3 Evo is offered in two variants with different drivetrains. The Design variant features a rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a single permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 313 PS (230 kW) and 380 Nm. This enables a 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.5 seconds, a top speed of 180 km/h, and a WLTP range of up to 510 km.

Above it sits the Excellence variant, which adds an all-wheel-drive setup via an additional front-mounted e-motor. Combined output rises to 449 PS (330 kW) and 560 Nm, cutting the 0–100 km/h time to 3.9 seconds and increasing top speed to 200 km/h. Despite the performance jump, the AWD model still delivers a WLTP range of 470 km.
Both variants share the same 74.8 kWh LFP BYD Blade Battery. DC fast charging is rated at up to 220 kW, allowing a 10–80% charge in just 25 minutes, while 11 kW AC charging enables a full charge in around eight hours.

Practicality has also been improved. Thanks to the revised layout, the Atto 3 Evo gains a front trunk for the first time. Rear boot space now stands at 490 litres, expanding to 1,360 litres with the rear seats folded.
Inside, the gear selector has been relocated to the steering column, freeing up space around the centre console and giving the cabin a cleaner, more open feel.

With more power, faster charging and added practicality, the Atto 3 Evo represents a substantial step forward over the original model. The key question now is whether this region will be next to receive the model in right-hand-drive form.
In Malaysia, the current Atto 3 is starting to show its age against newer rivals and with BYD’s strong local momentum we would not be surprised the Atto 3 Evo could arrive in our shores sooner rather than later as its natural replacement.
