Audi Q2

The Audi Q2 made its Malaysian debut at the Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) and it has been unveiled as the company’s smallest compact SUV ever. It slots in just under the Audi Q3 compact SUV while representing a youthful and cool presence into the Q-family.

The Q2’s architecture is based on the company’s MQB platform and in Malaysia, Audi is offering the Q2 in only one standard variant. The Audi Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI is priced RM 219, 900.

The dashboard design is simple and elegant-looking. The carbon fiber finish on the upper-dash paired with a full black overall finish adds a sporty touch to the interior cabin. Easiness for the driver, buttons and other controls for the system are placed strategically on the dashboard.   

The Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI is installed with a fully digital 12.3-inch TFT-MID Audi virtual cockpit.  

The seats are finished in full black Dinamica microfiber leather upholstery. It only gets manual adjustable seat functions.  

The Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI offers plenty of head and legroom in the front. As for the rear occupants there isn't a lot of headroom, but it proves to still be family friendly as it is ideal for kids and only workable for adults on short trips. 

It has medium sized door pockets, a cavern storage area in the center console and a decent-sized glove box.

There are 4 cup holders, 2 located in the front center console, while the other 2 located at the rear’s center armrest. As for bottle holders, it gets 4 with each one located in the side door panels. 

The Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI gets two 12-volt power sockets with one located in the front center console and one at the back part of the center console. It also has 2 USB ports located at the back part of the center console.

It has 405-litres of boot space and it can be expanded to 1,050-litres with the rear seats folded down. It is able to fit 3 large suitcases with ease. 

The measurements are 4,191 mm length, 1,794 mm width, 1,508 mm height, and weigh 1,280 kg with a wheelbase spanning 2,587 mm.

The Audi Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI exudes a sporty and rugged exterior with a front bumper that is aggressive and commanding looking. Paired with a large honeycomb shaped black grille that has slightly tapered outer edges. It also gets a blacked-out wide and stretched-out from left to right air inlet that has a lower chrome lining finish. Overall the front has a very sinister outlook.

At the rear, the Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI gets a simple yet sporty design. The central portion of the boot comes with a prominent bulge, which makes the body appear bigger than what it is. On the top it is fitted with a slim roof-edge spoiler. The rear bumper gets a clean, no creases design paired with slit-like fog lights and a diffuser with integrated exhaust.

It gets a pair of angular-shaped headlamps that come with full LED units and fitted with daytime running LEDs. The sharp design gives the front a more focused and athletic look.

At the back, the taillights get LED combination units with dynamic turn signals. The large squared shaped tail lights are positioned at the edges and have a commanding presence of the whole layout.

The side mirrors are power adjusted and power folded with dynamic turn-indicators.   

The Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI is equipped with 17-inch, 5 spokes bladed design alloy rims with 215/55 tyres. 

The Audi Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI features the Audi pre sense front and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and Cruise Control. 

Passive safety includes 6 airbags which includes front, side and curtain, seat belt anchors, reminders and pre-tensioners, front and rear parking sensors with multi-view cameras, ISOFIX, security alarm with immobilizer and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Audi drive select offers five drive modes – Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Efficiency and Individual

The Audi pre sense front and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) will make driving on the highway a less stressful task. 

The Audi Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI is installed with an 8.3-inch advanced display audio touchscreen free standing head unit that supports smartphone mirroring function, MMI navigation system and Bluetooth interface. 

The 1.4-Litre TFSI, In-line 4-cylinder 16 Valve, turbocharged DOHC engine produces 150 hp of max power at 5,000 rpm – 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm to 3,500 rpm. 

The Audi Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI gets a 7-speed S-Tronic automatic gearbox. 

Power is sent to its front wheels.

The Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI can go from 0-100 kph in 8.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 212 kph. 

The fuel tank capacity is 50-litres and it is capable of delivering a combined fuel consumption figure of 5.3-litres for every 100 km.  

It has keyless engine push-button start, remote powered boot operation, dual-zone automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, steering tilt and telescopic functions, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear cameras and automatic headlamps. 

The seats are supportive. Overall it is comfortable, the front cabin is spacious and the ride quality is good. The Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI’s performance and handling are more agile and is better suited for fast city maneuvering.

The Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI being a German made quality offers great sound insulation. The cabin suppresses wind, road and tyre noises well and makes them barely noticeable. 

The Audi Q2 Sport 1.4 TFSI is a desirable and fine-driving small SUV with an impressive interior. It has advanced instrument and infotainment systems which the company calls it the Audi Virtual Cockpit. 

As for the exterior, the all new Audi Q2 brings a new dimension to the Audi range with its polygonal design. It portrays a bold and muscular, yet compact and sleek outlook overall.
