BMW 5 Series

The BMW 5-Series is currently on its 7th generation, and there are three variants available; the 520i Luxury, 530e M Sport, and 530i M Sport. Prices range from RM 328,800 to RM 382,800. These prices do not include insurance but are inclusive of the sales and service tax. The 5-Series highlights space, versatility, and comfort. 

The design is a modern and futuristic digital layout that gives a more commanding feel to the vehicle.

The instrument cluster is made up of a 12.3-inch full LCD multi-function display. 

The car comes with 5 seats for maximum comfort. All seats are finished in black leather and are electrically adjustable. Both the driver and front passenger seats come with memory function features. 

Both front and rear passengers will be spoiled with maximum comfort as the 5-Series was designed for the individuals’ greatest convenience. The vehicle will leave no shortage of leg space even for passengers that are six-footers who have fully extended their seats. 

The car has a glove compartment that can fit not only the car manual and service booklet but also is able to fit some essential items such as your lipstick and tissues for a quick fix. There are also multiple other storage space options in the vehicle such as the cavern beneath the front central armrest where passengers are able to fit their facemasks  or even sanitizers as well as an overhead compartment to keep sunglasses. 

There are 4 cup holders and 4 bottle holders available in the 5-Series. Two cup holders are located in front and two in the second row armrest. There is one bottle holder located at each door panel.

The vehicle has 2 USB charging ports and a 12V charging socket. 

The available boot space is 530 litres. 

The measurements are 4,936 mm in length, 1,868 mm in width, 1,479 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,975 mm. 

The 5-Series 520i Luxury gives a luxurious and classy look with the main focus being the Chrome Line exterior with the ornamental kidney grille as well as the shiny elements of the front bumper. 

The rear of the 5-Series 530e M Sport displays their sleek design that focuses on the light chrome trapezoidal-shaped exhaust tips.

The front headlamps are LED projection units that also include fog lights, built-in LED daytime running lights, and dynamic indicators. 

The tail lamps are LED units that also include LED fog lights and dynamic indicators.

The 530e M Sport comes with 19-inch M light-alloy double-spoke 664 M wheels in black with mixed tyres. However, the  520i Luxury comes with 18-inch light-alloy V-spoke style 684 wheels. 

The 5-Series has the following active safety features; automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warnings, lane-departure warnings, and blind-spot monitors.

The passive features include six airbags, ISOFIX in the second-row child seat anchors, reverse camera as well as front and rear parking sensors. 

There are three DMS profiles available which are Comfort, Eco and Sport, to choose from to suit their needs. 

Features a 10.25-inch touchscreen Infotainment System that has gesture control and  is compatible with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. 

The driver assistance available are steering and lane control assistant with active navigation and lane change assistant, lane keeping assistant with active side collision protection, including lane change warning and lane departure warning, emergency stop assistant, automatic speed limit assist, front crossing traffic warning, wrong-way driving warning, evasion assistant, junction warning now with city braking function and automatic formation of emergency lane. 

The 530e M Sport is equipped with a B48 2.0 litre BMW TwinPower turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and the BMW eDrive system’s electric motor. The car produces 184 hp at 5,000 rpm and 290 Nm of torque at 1,350 rpm. Combined with the BMW eDrive system’s electric motor, it generates 252 hp and 420 Nm of torque.

The 530e comes with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. 

Power is sent to all four wheels. 

The 530e M Sport is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the 5-Series is around 235 kph. 

The average fuel consumption is approximately 2.0 l/100km for the 530e M Sport. 

The 530e M Sport comes with a touchscreen audio display system, Apple carplay and Android Auto, electric folding rearview mirror, automatic headlamps, adaptive cruise control, foldable rear seat, rear reading lamp, trunk lid steering wheel-mounted audio controls, power door locks with remote keyless entry system and push-start button with the smart key. 

The rear air vent is located behind the front occupant’s centre arm rest and by the B-pillars. 

The quality of the ride is firm and the seats are very comfortable.  

The sound insulation in the car is effortless as road and wind noises were suppressed.
