BMW iX

The 2026 BMW iX is BMW’s flagship electric Sports Activity Vehicle, carrying over the facelifted model introduced in Malaysia in 2025.

The current Malaysian range consists of two variants – iX xDrive45 Sport and iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro – priced at RM425,800 and RM487,800 respectively, on-the-road without insurance.

Both feature dual-motor all-wheel drive. The xDrive45 produces 300 KW (402 HP) and 700 NM, while the xDrive60 raises output to 400 KW (536 HP) and 765 NM.

Gross battery capacities stand at 100.6 KWH and 111.5 KWH, providing up to 602 KM and 701 KM WLTP range respectively.

The cabin centres around BMW’s curved digital display arrangement.

A 12.3-INCH digital instrument display is paired with a 14.9-INCH central touchscreen under a single curved glass surface.

The minimalist dashboard incorporates slim air vents, ambient lighting and very few conventional switches.

A 12.3-INCH fully digital instrument cluster forms the driver-facing portion of BMW Live Cockpit Professional.

A Head-Up Display is standard, projecting navigation, speed and driver-assistance information into the driver’s field of view.

Both variants receive electrically adjustable front seats with memory functionality.

The xDrive45 Sport features the Interior Design Atelier treatment, available in Oyster, Mocha or Black.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro receives more supportive M multifunction seats, finished in Black Sensatec leather and Atlas Grey Alcantara depending on specification.

Rear seats fold in a 60:40 split.

The iX accommodates five occupants across two seating rows.

Its long 3,000 MM wheelbase, flat rear floor and dedicated electric architecture provide generous legroom and cabin width for both front and rear occupants.

The absence of a conventional centre transmission tunnel also improves comfort for the rear middle passenger.

The xDrive45 Sport features BMW’s distinctive two-spoke hexagonal multifunction steering wheel.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro instead receives a more conventional round M leather steering wheel, matching its sportier interior theme.

Both provide audio, assistance and infotainment controls, together with powered tilt and telescopic steering-column adjustment.

Interior storage includes a large centre-console compartment, open storage beneath the floating console, glove compartment and spacious door pockets.

Additional smaller compartments are positioned throughout the cabin for everyday personal items.

The iX provides two front cup holders integrated into the centre console.

Two additional cup holders are available for rear passengers within the folding centre armrest.

Device-charging provisions include two USB-C ports at the front and four USB-C ports for rear occupants.

A wireless smartphone charging pad and front power socket are also equipped.

Boot capacity stands at 500 L with the rear seats upright.

Folding the rear seats expands maximum cargo capacity to 1,750 L.

A tyre-repair kit is provided instead of a conventional spare wheel.

Both iX variants measure 4,965 MM long, 1,970 MM wide and 1,695 MM tall, with a substantial 3,000 MM wheelbase.

Width including the exterior mirrors stands at approximately 2,230 MM.

Kerb weight is approximately 2,525 KG for the xDrive45 Sport and 2,580 KG for the xDrive60 M Sport Pro.

The facelifted iX receives a redesigned interpretation of BMW’s large vertical kidney grille.

Although completely closed off for aerodynamic purposes, the grille features a new diagonal-pattern insert and standard BMW Iconic Glow illumination around its perimeter.

The xDrive45 Sport uses a cleaner Sport bumper, while the xDrive60 M Sport Pro gains a more aggressive M Aerodynamics package with larger lower intakes and vertical air curtains.

The rear retains the iX’s broad shoulders, frameless doors and relatively clean tailgate design.

Slim L-shaped tail lamps sit high within the rear bodywork, while the reversing lamps, rear fog lamps and reflectors are integrated lower within the bumper.

A contactless electrically operated tailgate is standard across both variants.

The facelift introduces redesigned Adaptive LED headlamps.

Distinctive vertically arranged and slightly angled LED daytime running lights create BMW’s latest interpretation of its signature four-eye lighting graphic.

Automatic high-beam functionality is also provided.

Slim full-LED L-shaped tail lamps are standard.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro additionally receives the M Lights Shadowline treatment, giving its lighting units a darker appearance.

Exterior mirrors feature electric adjustment, automatic folding and integrated LED turn indicators.

Their settings can be stored together with the powered front-seat memory functions.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro additionally incorporates darker Shadowline exterior detailing.

The iX combines conventional disc brakes with regenerative braking from its dual electric motors.

Electronic brake-energy recuperation automatically varies the amount of regeneration depending on driving conditions.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro is visually distinguished by red-painted brake callipers.

The xDrive45 Sport rides on 21-INCH Aerodynamic Style 1012 Bicolour alloy wheels wrapped in 255/50 R21 tyres.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro upgrades to 22-INCH Aerodynamic Style 1025 M alloy wheels with 275/40 R22 tyres.

The larger M wheels feature a distinctive multi-colour polished finish and reinforce the sportier positioning of the xDrive60.

Active safety systems include ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Dynamic Stability Control and traction management.

Regenerative braking, Hill Start Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring and electronically controlled all-wheel drive further enhance stability and control.

Front and rear parking sensors together with a 360-degree camera provide additional low-speed assistance.

Occupant protection includes front airbags, front-side airbags and front and rear curtain airbags.

Five three-point seat belts, seatbelt reminders for all occupants and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points for the outer rear seats are also provided.

The high-voltage battery is structurally protected within the vehicle floor and passenger-cell architecture.

BMW My Modes alters drivetrain response, display graphics, ambient lighting and interior sound according to the selected setting.

The electric drivetrain also features adaptive regenerative braking, automatically varying energy recuperation according to traffic, road and navigation information.

The 14.9-INCH central touchscreen operates BMW Operating System 8.5 with QuickSelect.

Features include BMW Maps navigation, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, Bluetooth connectivity, BMW ConnectedDrive services and wireless smartphone integration.

BMW IconicSounds Electric also provides specially developed driving soundscapes linked to vehicle behaviour.

Both variants feature an 18-speaker Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.

The system produces approximately 655 W and distributes audio throughout the spacious cabin.

Being fully electric, the iX uses two electrically excited synchronous motors, with one positioned at each axle.

The xDrive45 Sport produces a combined 300 KW (402 HP) and 700 NM.

Its front motor produces approximately 255 HP and 365 NM, while the rear develops approximately 268 HP and 400 NM.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro increases combined output to 400 KW (536 HP) and 765 NM, with a more powerful rear motor contributing to the higher system output.

Both variants use a single-speed automatic electric reduction transmission.

Power is delivered directly without conventional multi-speed gear changes.

Both Malaysian iX variants feature dual-motor xDrive all-wheel drive.

The electronic system continuously manages torque between the front and rear axles depending on traction, efficiency and performance requirements.

The iX xDrive45 Sport accelerates from 0-100 KM/H in 5.1 seconds.

The more powerful iX xDrive60 M Sport Pro completes the same sprint in 4.6 seconds.

Both have an electronically limited top speed of 200 KM/H.

As fully electric vehicles, both iX variants consume no petrol or diesel.

The xDrive45 Sport uses a 100.6 KWH gross lithium-ion battery, with approximately 96 KWH usable capacity and up to 602 KM WLTP range.

It supports 22 KW AC charging, completing 0-100% in approximately five hours, while 175 KW DC charging enables 10-80% in around 34 minutes.

The xDrive60 M Sport Pro receives a larger 111.5 KWH gross battery, with approximately 109.6 KWH usable capacity and up to 701 KM WLTP range.

AC charging remains 22 KW, requiring approximately 5 hours 45 minutes, while maximum DC charging increases to 195 KW, completing 10-80% in around 35 minutes.

Standard conveniences include Comfort Access keyless operation, powered front seats with memory, four automatic anti-pinch windows and a contactless powered tailgate.

Also included are wireless smartphone charging, automatic wipers, auto headlamps, ambient lighting and the panoramic Sky Lounge glass roof.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant provides voice-controlled access to selected vehicle and infotainment functions.

The iX features four-zone automatic climate control.

Dedicated rear climate vents and rear-zone temperature adjustment allow second-row occupants to manage their own cabin environment separately from those in front.

Both variants receive adaptive two-axle air suspension as standard.

The system continuously adjusts damping and ride height to balance comfort, handling and stability.

Its large 3,000 MM wheelbase and low-mounted battery further contribute to a composed ride despite the vehicle’s substantial mass.

The electric drivetrain operates without conventional engine vibration, contributing to a particularly quiet cabin.

BMW combines the inherently smooth powertrain with extensive insulation, frameless-door sealing and aerodynamic optimisation to reduce wind and road noise.

The quiet environment also allows the Harman Kardon audio system and BMW IconicSounds Electric to become more prominent when desired.

The 2026 BMW iX continues to offer a strong combination of luxury, space, performance and long-distance electric range despite facing increasingly newer competitors.

The RM425,800 xDrive45 Sport already provides 402 HP, 700 NM, AWD and up to 602 KM WLTP range, making it the more rational choice within the range.

The RM487,800 xDrive60 M Sport Pro adds another 134 HP, stretches range to 701 KM WLTP, increases DC charging to 195 KW and gains a noticeably more aggressive M Sport Pro appearance.

Both retain the same spacious five-seat cabin, 500 L boot, four-zone climate control, Sky Lounge roof, Harman Kardon audio, adaptive air suspension and comprehensive Driving Assistant Professional package.

While its charging speeds no longer lead the latest 800-volt EVs, the iX remains one of BMW’s most comfortable and accomplished long-range electric SUVs.
