Reviews

Summary

The 2026 Porsche Macan Electric is the second-generation Macan and Porsche’s first fully electric SUV, underpinned by the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture with an 800-VOLT electrical system.

The latest Malaysian line-up comprises five variants – Macan Electric, Macan 4 Electric, Macan 4S Electric, Macan GTS and Macan Turbo Electric – priced from RM575,000, RM595,000, RM700,000, RM775,000 and RM845,000 respectively.

All variants use a 100 KWH lithium-ion battery. Maximum output ranges from 360 HP in the rear-wheel-drive Macan to 639 HP in the Turbo, while the latest Macan GTS slots between the 4S and Turbo with 571 HP and 955 NM.

Interior

Dashboard

The cabin combines Porsche’s traditional driver-focused layout with a modern three-screen digital architecture.

A 12.6-INCH curved digital instrument cluster sits directly ahead of the driver, while a 10.9-INCH Porsche Communication Management touchscreen occupies the centre of the dashboard.

An optional 10.9-INCH front passenger display can extend the digital interface across the cabin.

Centre Console

The rising centre console incorporates physical controls for frequently used vehicle and climate functions alongside touchscreen operation.

A compact electronic drive selector is positioned near the steering wheel, freeing more space within the centre console for storage and charging facilities.

Instrument Cluster

A 12.6-INCH curved fully digital instrument cluster displays driving, navigation, powertrain and assistance information.

A Head-Up Display is also available, providing key information closer to the driver’s natural line of sight.

Seats

Electrically adjustable front seats are offered with extensive adjustment and memory functionality depending on specification.

Higher variants receive more aggressively bolstered sports seats, while the GTS combines Race-Tex and leather upholstery with GTS-specific interior trim.

The rear seatbacks fold in a practical 40:20:40 split.

Space

The Macan Electric accommodates five occupants across two rows.

Its substantially longer 2,893 MM wheelbase provides more rear passenger room than the previous combustion-powered Macan, while the flat EV architecture improves overall cabin packaging.

Steering Functions

The multifunction sports steering wheel incorporates controls for audio, digital instrumentation and driver assistance.

A Porsche Mode Switch is available on suitably equipped variants, allowing drive modes to be changed directly from the steering wheel.

Electric adjustment for both reach and rake is available depending on specification.

Storage Space

Storage areas include door pockets, a glove compartment, centre-console storage and additional compartments around the cabin.

The dedicated PPE electric platform also provides a useful luggage compartment beneath the bonnet.

Cup Holders

Two cup holders are incorporated into the front centre-console area.

A further two are provided for rear occupants through the fold-down centre armrest.

Charging Ports

The cabin provides USB-C charging ports for front and rear occupants, together with a wireless smartphone charging compartment.

Porsche Connect and smartphone integration further support connected-device use throughout the cabin.

Build Quality

The Macan combines leather, Race-Tex, metallic trim and soft-touch surfaces with a distinctly Porsche-oriented cockpit design.

Unlike many newer EVs, frequently used functions retain physical controls rather than relying entirely on the central touchscreen.

The GTS adds dark Race-Tex and leather finishes, while optional interior packages can match decorative stitching to selected exterior colours.

Boot Space

Rear luggage capacity stands at 540 L with the rear seats upright.

Folding the second row increases maximum capacity to approximately 1,348 L.

A further 84 L front luggage compartment provides useful additional storage for charging cables and smaller items.

Exterior

Body Dimensions

The Macan Electric measures 4,784 MM long, 1,938 MM wide and 1,622 MM tall, with a substantially longer 2,893 MM wheelbase than the previous combustion-powered generation.

It provides five doors and seating for five occupants, while its relatively compact dimensions retain the manoeuvrability expected of Porsche’s smaller SUV.

Front View

Up front, the Macan Electric adopts a noticeably lower and more aerodynamic interpretation of traditional Porsche SUV styling.

Slim daytime running lights sit high within the bodywork, while the main headlamp units are positioned lower within the bumper.

Active cooling flaps and carefully shaped air curtains help manage airflow around the front body and wheels, contributing to improved aerodynamic efficiency.

Rear View

The rear receives a strongly sculpted fastback-inspired profile with pronounced shoulders and a roof-mounted spoiler.

A full-width LED lighting treatment integrates the illuminated PORSCHE script, while the large powered tailgate provides access to the luggage compartment.

The GTS receives additional SportDesign bodywork and high-gloss black exterior detailing, including distinctive side skirts and a model-specific rear spoiler lip.

Headlamps

The Macan Electric features LED headlamps with adaptive high-beam functionality.

More advanced Matrix LED lighting technology is available depending on configuration, while the four-point daytime running light signature retains a recognisable Porsche identity.

Tail Lamps

A slim full-width LED tail-light strip extends across the rear.

Three-dimensional internal graphics and illuminated PORSCHE lettering give the Macan a distinctive appearance after dark.

Side Mirror

Exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable, folding and heated.

Integrated direction indicators, memory functionality and Blind Spot Monitoring warnings further improve everyday convenience and visibility.

Brakes

The Macan Electric combines high-performance friction brakes with regenerative braking from its electric drivetrain.

The GTS receives six-piston aluminium monobloc fixed front callipers and large brake discs, while the Turbo can be configured with even more performance-oriented braking equipment.

Brake-energy recuperation reduces reliance on the conventional friction brakes during normal driving.

Wheels

Standard wheel specification begins at approximately 20 INCHES, with larger 21- and 22-inch designs available depending on variant and configuration.

The Macan GTS features exclusive 21-INCH Macan Design wheels finished in Anthracite Grey, while optional 22-inch RS Spyder Design II wheels are also available.

Features

Active Safety

Active safety equipment includes ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Porsche Stability Management and traction control.

The Macan also incorporates regenerative braking, Tyre Pressure Monitoring and electronically controlled torque management on all-wheel-drive variants.

Passive Safety

The Macan Electric features a comprehensive airbag system including front, front-side, curtain, rear-side and front-centre airbags.

Five three-point seatbelts, ISOFIX child-seat mounting points and a high-strength passenger structure are also provided.

The high-voltage battery is structurally integrated within the PPE platform and protected by dedicated impact structures.

Drive Modes

Selectable Porsche drive programmes alter accelerator response, drivetrain behaviour, suspension and steering characteristics.

Performance-oriented variants add more aggressive settings, while the Macan GTS features a dedicated Track Mode that prepares the battery cooling system for sustained high-performance driving.

Infotainment

The 10.9-INCH Porsche Communication Management touchscreen serves as the main infotainment interface.

Features include navigation, Porsche Connect, the Porsche App Centre, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connected functions through the My Porsche App.

The latest system also supports an AI-enhanced Voice Pilot, allowing more natural spoken commands.

Driver Assistance

Driver-assistance features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring and collision warning.

Parking assistance is supported by front and rear sensors, a 360-degree camera system and automated parking functionality on suitably equipped Malaysian models.

Sound System

A 14-speaker BOSE Surround Sound System producing approximately 710 W is available on the Malaysian Macan Electric.

Higher-end audio configurations can also be specified through Porsche’s extensive options programme.

The GTS additionally receives a dedicated two-stage Porsche Electric Sport Sound to provide a more emotional performance soundtrack.

Performance

Engine

The Macan Electric uses permanently excited synchronous electric motors instead of a combustion engine.

The Macan Electric RWD produces up to 265 KW (360 HP) and 563 NM with Launch Control.

The Macan 4 Electric uses two motors and produces 300 KW (408 HP) and 650 NM.

The Macan 4S Electric increases output to 380 KW (516 HP) and 820 NM.

The Macan GTS delivers 420 KW (571 HP) and 955 NM.

The range-topping Macan Turbo Electric produces 470 KW (639 HP) and 1,130 NM.

Transmission

All five variants use a single-speed automatic electric reduction transmission.

Unlike the Taycan, the Macan Electric does not require a two-speed rear gearbox, instead relying on the wide operating range of its electric motors.

Drivetrain

The entry-level Macan Electric uses rear-wheel drive with a single rear-mounted motor.

The Macan 4, 4S, GTS and Turbo use dual-motor all-wheel drive with electric Porsche Traction Management (ePTM).

The GTS adopts a particularly rear-biased AWD calibration together with an electronically controlled rear differential lock for more agile handling.

Acceleration

With Launch Control engaged:

  • Macan Electric – 0-100 KM/H in 5.7 seconds
  • Macan 4 Electric – 5.2 seconds
  • Macan 4S Electric – 4.1 seconds
  • Macan GTS – 3.8 seconds
  • Macan Turbo Electric – 3.3 seconds

Top speeds stand at 220 KM/H, 220 KM/H, 240 KM/H, 250 KM/H and 260 KM/H respectively.

Fuel Consumption

As fully electric vehicles, all Macan Electric variants consume no petrol.

Every variant uses a 100 KWH gross lithium-ion battery paired with Porsche’s 800-VOLT PPE electrical architecture.

Porsche Malaysia currently quotes combined electric range of up to:

  • Macan Electric – 643 KM
  • Macan 4 Electric – 619 KM
  • Macan 4S Electric – 617 KM
  • Macan GTS – 614 KM
  • Macan Turbo Electric – 611 KM

AC charging is supported at up to 11 KW, while maximum DC fast charging reaches 270 KW.

Under optimum conditions, a 10-80% DC recharge takes approximately 21 minutes.

Comfort

Convenience

Convenience equipment includes keyless vehicle operation, powered windows with anti-pinch protection, electrically folding mirrors, wireless smartphone charging and a hands-free powered tailgate.

Porsche Digital Key functionality is also available on suitably configured 2026 models, allowing a compatible smartphone to unlock and start the vehicle.

Rear Air Vents

Dedicated rear climate-control vents provide direct airflow for second-row passengers.

Depending on specification, expanded climate-control functionality allows greater individual temperature adjustment between front and rear occupants.

Ride Comfort

The Macan Electric uses sophisticated independent suspension at both axles.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and adaptive air suspension are available depending on variant, allowing damping and ride height to be continuously adjusted.

The GTS receives sports air suspension as standard, sitting 10 MM lower with model-specific damping and anti-roll calibration.

Optional rear-axle steering with up to five degrees of steering angle improves low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability.

Sound Insulation

The electric drivetrain eliminates conventional combustion-engine vibration while extensive acoustic insulation helps suppress road and wind noise.

The highly aerodynamic body and frameless doors are engineered to maintain refinement at highway speeds.

For drivers wanting more character, Porsche Electric Sport Sound introduces a specially developed synthetic drivetrain soundtrack, with the GTS receiving a particularly distinctive two-stage calibration.

Wrap Up

Conclusion

The 2026 Porsche Macan Electric combines the practicality expected from a premium compact SUV with significantly more advanced electric technology than the previous combustion-powered Macan.

The rear-wheel-drive Macan Electric provides the greatest efficiency and longest current Porsche Malaysia-quoted range at 643 KM, while the Macan 4 adds all-wheel drive for only RM20,000 more.

The 4S and GTS provide increasingly serious performance, with the new GTS combining 571 HP, 955 NM, a 3.8-second 0-100 KM/H sprint, sports air suspension and rear-biased AWD.

At the top, the Macan Turbo delivers 639 HP and 1,130 NM, reaching 100 KM/H in just 3.3 seconds while retaining five-seat practicality and a 540 L boot.

Its 800-volt architecture and 270 KW charging remain strong, but Malaysia’s latest tax-adjusted pricing of RM575,000 to RM845,000 makes the Macan Electric considerably more expensive than when it originally arrived locally.
