Officially launched, Chery Auto Malaysia presents the 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro, the third model (Omoda 5, Tiggo 8 Pro) in a new era for the Chinese automakers here.

A contender in the C-segment market, the SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) underpins Chery’s T1X platform, akin to its other stablemates.

Locally-assembled (CKD - Kulim, Kedah), the single variant (Tiggo 7 Pro) offered tags at MYR 123,800 (first 2,000 units - MYR 119,800).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) cover a seven-year/150,000 KM vehicle warranty, a five-year free service package, and a seven-year/150,000 KM 24/7 free towing service.

Four single-tone exterior colours (Vanilla Blue, Carbon Black, Phantom Grey, Nasdaq Silver). Two dual-tone (Black roof) exterior colours (Bloodstone Red, Khaki White).

The 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro has a polished and symmetrically-tiered dashboard, linked to a high-rising bridge-style centre console (Silver trims).

Soft-/hard-touch panelled, it sees a single-tone colour scheme (Black) with Glossy Carbon Fibre (centre tier) and Silver trimmings (AC vents, door panels).

Centre-staged is a floating-curved-twin-screen unit (24.6-Inch), and accentuating the mood is an ambient lighting system (64-colour).

Inclusively, the layout is neatly-designed (driver-centric, user-friendly) with all the buttons stealthily-embedded into the panels.

One half of a floating-curved-twin setup, installed is a 12.3-Inch fully-digital cluster display.

Luxuriously-bolstered and comfortable, the five-seater’s interior is upholstered in leatherette (Black) with contrast stitching/piping (White).

The front gets electric-powered seats (driver/passenger - six-/four-way, ventilation), and the rear gets a manual-configured bench seat (60:40 split-fold).

Included are armrests (front - centre console, rear - centre seat fold-out), a headliner (Grey) and a panoramic glass sunroof (tilt/slide, sunshade).

Courtesy of Chery’s T1X platform, the cabin offers ample space, providing the front and rear occupants with plenty of interior mobility.

Mounted is a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel. Single-tone (Black) leatherette with accentuating trimmings (Silver).

Features are multi-switches (Bluetooth, media, voice command, vehicle settings), and column adjustments (tilt, telescopic, tiptronic). 

Drive is aided by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. 

Numerous storage areas. E.g., side door/seat back pockets, centre console partitioned/caverned spaces, a glove box and boot side wall pockets.

Provided are four cup holders (two - front, rear) and four bottle holders (one - side doors).

Provided are three USB ports (two-front, one-rear), two 12 V sockets (front, boot), and a wireless charger (front - active cooling).

Accessing its electronic-powered tailgate (contactless - sensor, key fob), opens up to 475-Litres (rear seats up) and 1,672-Litres (rear seats down) of load capacities.

Weighing in at 1,512 KG, the 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro stands at 4,513 MM long, 1,862 MM wide, 1,696 MM tall, and with a wheelbase spanning 2,670 MM.

Robustly-premium with sharp lines and flowing contours, its exterior radiates both a business- and family-esque outlook.

The front-end sees sculpted bonnet/fenders, Chery’s ‘Galaxy’ grille (Chrome - prism-diamond-studded inserts) and lower air-intakes (Blue fin - corner inserts).

Filling-in the layout are body claddings (Black - lower lip, fenders, side sills), body trimmings (Chrome - grille/window surrounds) and the Chery emblem (Chrome).

Commandingly-sleek, its flowing silhouette furthers the premium design with symmetrically-clean and horizontally-cut curves.

The rear-end sees a floating roofline (Black upswept D-pillars), a roof-edge spoiler (Blue fin - corner inserts), muscular fenders and a dual-exhaust-integrated bumper.

Filling-in the layout are body claddings (Black - diffuser, fenders, side sills), body trimmings (Chrome - bumper/window surrounds) and the Chery script (Chrome).

Boxy and sharply-slim, the angularly-housed head lamps are inward-tilted. Installed are LED units with bumper-integrated LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Features are sequential turn signals, automatic On/Off, automatic high-beam (Intelligent High Beam Control - IHBC) and welcome lights.

The tail lamps are framed in a lightbar design, centre-slim with angular-wrapped-around edges. 

Installed are full LED units, featuring sequential turn signals and welcome lights. Paired to the layout is a set of LED fog lamps.

The two-tone (Black-body-colour) side mirrors are electronic-powered (auto-fold, adjust), with turn signals and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) indicators.

Equipped are ventilated (front) and solid (rear) disc brakes, featuring coloured (Red) brake callipers. 

Drive is aided by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold system.

Aerodynamically-sporty, it rides on a set of 18-Inch five-twin-spoke dual-tone (Silver-Black) alloy rims, wrapped in 225/55 R18 Atlas A51 tyres.

The 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro features the following suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Grouped are Multi Collision Brakes (MCB), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Integrated Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Emergency Lane Keep Assist (ELKA), Rear Cross Trac Alert (RCTA), Rear Cross Traffic Brake (RCTB) and HD Panoramic Camera (540-degree).

Completing the floating-curved-twin setup, installed is a 12.3-Inch touchscreen unit, supporting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, navigation, Intelligent Voice Assistant, USB and Bluetooth.

Entertainment is channelled via an eight-speaker Sony Premium Audio setup.

The 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro harbours a 1.6-Litre inline four-cylinder 16-valve turbocharged DOHC petrol engine, producing 194 HP (145 KW) and 290 NM. 

Fitted is a seven-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) automatic transmission.

Power is transmitted to the front wheels. Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) system.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is done in 8.3 seconds. Top speed is 205 KM/H.

Fuel tank capacity is at 57-Litres, and fuel consumption is rated at 7.0 L/100 KM.

Propping-up the chassis is a setup of MacPherson strut (front) and multi-link independent (rear) suspensions.

The SUV is comfortably spacious, safe and suitable for a daily driver. The ride quality is firm and well-balanced, with a smooth engine power and transmission delivery. 

Good sound insulation, covering all the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects. The cabin experience is refined, alienated from most of the outside noises.

The 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is a great business- and family-oriented car, offering space and style in one build.

Commandingly-postured, its shell envelopes a luxuriously refined interior, ranging from many advanced connectivity and safety systems.

Ultimately, its build quality is satisfactory, bargaining good looks and mechanics. The 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro is surely a head turner on Malaysian roads.
