Hyundai Santa Fe

One of three first offerings by the Korean’s newly formed principal company, Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY), the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe (5th-gen), officially launched.

The D-segment (mid-sized SUV) model underpins the Hyundai-Kia N3 platform with two powertrain (hybrid: HEV – petrol: ICE) and seating (7-seater/6-seater) options.

Fully imported (CBU – Korea), available via Sime Motors are three variants (Prime – MYR 225,000, Prestige – MYR 245,000, Calligraphy – MYR 270,000).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) include a vehicle warranty (eight years/160,000 KM warranty) and a free service package (1,000 KM inspection, three times labour).

Exterior colours (Prime, Prestige: Creamy White Pearl, Ecotronic Grey Pearl, Abyss Black Pearl, Ocado Green Pearl – Calligraphy: Earthy Brass Matte).

Interior colours (Prime, Prestige: Black-Charcoal Black Oak – Calligraphy: Black-Black Ink Metal, Pecan Brown-Natural Serenity Oak, Forest Green-Eucalyptus Stripe Light).

The all-new Santa Fe gets a rectangular, square and tiered dashboard, linked to a high-rising-wide centre console (armrest: bilateral storage opening – wireless charger – air-conditioning controls – gear lever-omitted).

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors), it sees variant-specific colour schemes (Black leather-Charcoal Black Oak trim: Prime, Prestige – Pecan Brown leather-Natural Serenity Oak trim, Black leather-Black Ink Metal trim, Forest Green leather-Eucalyptus Stripe Light trim: Calligraphy).

Equipped is a floating panoramic curved display (single-piece: instrument cluster, infotainment), storage (passenger-side dash – Prime, Prestige), UV-C sterilisation tray (passenger-side dash – Calligraphy), air-conditioning vents (full width, H-shaped – 6.6-Inch touch-control panel) and an ambient light system (H-shaped, customisable).

Inclusively, the layout is simple and straight-forward with accessibilities ergonomically arranged (driver-centric, passenger-oriented). 

Comfortable, the interior sees leather (Prime, Prestige) and Nappa leather (Calligraphy) upholsteries in single-tone (Black: Prime, prestige, Calligraphy – Peacan Brown, Forest Green: Calligraphy) colour schemes.

The first row gets electric-powered (multi-way-adjust, heating/ventilation, lumbar, driver-memory, driver-Relaxation Mode: one-touch recline, ottoman – Prestige, Calligraphy) bolstered (Prime, Prestige, Calligraphy) seats.

The second row gets a manual-operated (multi-way-adjust, lumbar, outer-seat-heating, third row-walk-in switch access, 40:20:40 split-flat-fold) three-seater (Prime, Prestige) and electric-powered (multi-way-adjust, lumbar, heating, ottoman, armrest-adjust, third row-walk-in switch access, 50:50 split-flat-fold) two-seater (captain chairs – Calligraphy) seats.

The third row gets a manual-operated (recline-adjust, 50:50 split-flat-fold, one-touch-flat-fold switch) two-seater (Prime, Prestige, Calligraphy) bench.

Included are headrests (first, second, third rows), armrests (first row – centre console, second row – centre seat fold-out/individual, third row – integrated side panels), centre console compartment (rear: retractable), sunshades (rear side windows – manual pull-out), headliner/pillar (Suede) and dual glass sunroofs (front, rear section: electric: open/tilt – Calligraphy).

The SUV’s variant-specific cabin (seven-seater-2-3-2: Prime, Prestige – six-seater-2-2-2: Calligraphy) offers generous space, providing comfortable seatings with ample interior mobility for the occupants (first row, second row, third row).

Mounted is a three-spoke-round steering wheel, wrapped in single-tone (Black – Prime, Prestige) and dual-tone (Black-interior colour dependent – Calligraphy) leather (Prime, Prestige, Calligraphy) with contrast trims (Silver).

Features are multi-switches (Bluetooth, media, voice recognition, vehicle telematics), column adjustments (tilt, telescopic), column gear shifter (gear lever – right stalk) and paddle shifters.

Drive is aided by a Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) system.

Weighing in at 1,855 KG (Prime), 1,584 KG (Prestige) and 1,521 KG (Calligraphy), the all-new Santa Fe stands at 4,830 MM long, 1,900 MM wide, 1,770 MM (Prime, Prestige) and 1,780 MM (Calligraphy) tall and with a wheelbase spanning 2,815 MM.

Solidly sporty and elegantly robust, it exudes a boxy sculpted and upright exterior, heightened by angular and cleanly cut contours.

The front-end sees a squared bonnet (Hyundai emblem), angular quarter panels (flared fenders), rectangular grille (Prime, Prestige: rectangular inlay – Calligraphy: diamond mesh) and a blocky bumper (thick bar trim: full width middle – vented: lower central, vertical corners).

Accentuations, body clad/trims (Black, Silver: Prime, Prestige – High-Gloss Black: Calligraphy), grille (Dark Chrome: Prime, Prestige, Calligraphy), roof rails (bridge-type – High-Gloss Black) and Hyundai emblem (Chrome).

Solidly squared and sleek, it continues the boxy sculpted and upright exterior, heightened by horizontal and smoothly lined creases.

The rear-end sees a straight-cut roofline (roof-edge spoiler, shark fin antenna), angular quarter panels (flared fenders), an upright tailgate (Hyundai emblem, Santa Fe script), C-pillar assist handle (hidden – Calligraphy) and a blocky bumper (hidden exhaust: Prime, Prestige – single exhaust: Calligraphy).

Accentuations, body clad/trims (Black, Silver: Prime, Prestige – High-Gloss Black: Calligraphy), roof rails (bridge-type – High-Gloss Black) and Hyundai emblem/Santa Fe script (Chrome: Prime, Prestige – Black: Calligraphy).

Seamless, the ‘H-Lights’ headlamps are framed square and wrapped around with pointed outer edges. Installed are full LED units (Multi-Focus Reflector: Prime – Dual Projector Lens: Prestige, Calligraphy).

Features are automatic On/Off/dusk-sensing-escort-welcome, Dynamic Welcome Light (DWL), High Beam Assist (HBA), H-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL – LED) and sequential turn signals (LED).

Seamless, the ‘H-Lights’ tail lamps are framed boxy and low-positioned (bottom tailgate) with pointed wraparound edges. Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic On/Off, welcome lights, sequential turn signals (LED) and H-shaped graphics. Included is a high-mounted stop light (spoiler integrated).

The dual-tone (Black-body-colour: Prime, Prestige – High-Gloss Black-body-colour: Calligraphy) side mirrors are electric-powered (auto-fold, adjust). 

Features are turn signals (LED), blind-spot indicators (Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist: BCA – Prestige, Calligraphy) and memory (Integrated Memory System – IMS).

Fitted are ventilated (front, rear) disc brakes. Drive is aided by an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold system.

Variant Prime rides on a set of 18-Inch five-twin-spoke (dual-tone – Black-Silver) alloy rims, wrapped in 235/60 R18 (front, rear) tyres. 

Variant Prestige cruises on a set of 20-Inch five-star-spoke (dual-tone – Black-Silver) alloy rims, wrapped in 255/45 R20 (front, rear) tyres.

Variant Diesel Max sports a set of 21-Inch multi-spoke (single-tone – Black) alloy rims, wrapped in 245/45 R21 (front, rear) tyres.

The all-new Santa Fe is installed with the Hyundai SmartSense suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
