Upholsteries (PVC: Style, Prime – Cloth: Prestige, Prestige HEV) in single-tone (Style, Prime, Prestige, Prestige HEV: Black-Pattern Insert Film) and dual-tone (Prestige, Prestige HEV: Black-Moss Grey) colour schemes.

Equipped is a floating panoramic curved display (single-piece: instrument cluster, infotainment), storage (passenger-side dash), air-conditioning vents (full width – 6.6-Inch touch-control panel) and an ambient light system (LED).

Athletically solid, it continues the sharply circular sculpted exterior, emphasised by horizontal and smoothly lined creases.

The rear-end sees a mildly dipped roofline (roof-edge spoiler, shark fin antenna), raised quarter panels (flared fenders), a tapered tailgate (Hyundai emblem, Tucson script) and a covered bumper (diffuser: hidden exhaust).

Second setup (Prime, Prestige – turbo) is a Smartstream 1.6-Litre inline four-cylinder 16-valve turbocharged direct-injection (T-GDi) DOHC petrol engine (178 HP/132 KW, 264 NM).

Third setup (Prestige HEV – turbo-hybrid) is a Smartstream 1.6-Litre inline four-cylinder 16-valve turbocharged direct-injection (T-GDi) DOHC hybrid engine (178 HP/132 KW, 264 NM) and a transmission-integrated (Transmission Mounted Electric Device – TMED) electric motor (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM: 48 KW, 264 NM).

Total system output reads at 232 HP (173 KW) and 367 NM.

Mated to the setups are six-speed automatic (Style, Prestige HEV) and seven-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission – Prime, Prestige) transmissions.

Power is transmitted to the front (Style, Prime, Prestige HEV) and all four (Prestige) wheels, via a Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) system and Hyundai’s HTRAC Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) system.

A suitable daily driver, the ride comfortability feels flexible and firm at the same time, providing great power with agile handling.

Suspension fitted is a setup of Macpherson strut (front) and multi-link (rear). Inside and out, performance- and comfort-wise, the ride quality is satisfactory.

Good sound insulation with the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects accounted for. The cabin is well-designed, enhancing the in-car ambience.

Overall, the cabin can suppress unwanted noises well and make them barely noticeable, even when cruising through bumpy asphalts or at high speeds. 

The new Hyundai Tucson is built with a robustly sporty appeal, offering appearance, space and practicality.

Rugged and sharply sculpted, its exterior is well-designed with roundly angular lines donating to a powerful overall character.
