Lexus LX

Some view it as a modern-day dinosaur, others think it is like a yacht on wheels. Nonetheless, the Lexus LX is an outstanding full-size luxury SUV offering a ton of space and a smooth ride with an unparalleled off-road prowess.

Lexus offers their flagship LX SUV in two variants, the regular LX 570 which starts at RM 1,225,883 and the LX 570 Sport at RM 1,281,938, along with a five-year unlimited mileage factory warranty and full after-sales support.

The Lexus LX 570’s dashboard design is very elegant and premium-looking with high levels of craftsmanship and build quality. 

It comes in full soft-leather upholstery with Shimamoku trimmings, the elaborate art of alternating layers of dark and light wood veneer. 

Each of the clusters for the systems and the overall layout are well put as it is simple and very easy reachability and driver oriented. 

It comes with An Optitron fully digital instrument cluster that has a 4.2-inch Multi Information Display (MID) and a full coloured Head-Up display (HUD). 

The seats are finished in semi-Aniline leather upholstery. It comes with a 10-way driver and 8-way passenger power adjustments with 2-way lumbar support, auto heater and ventilation for driver and passenger and a memory function for the driver. 

As for the second row, it comes with a 2-way sliding power adjustment, 60:40 layout, armrests with control switches and manual recline. The third row comes with a power foldable function and a 50:50 layout.   

Plus, it comes with a five-seater seating in its two-row version and an eight-seater in its three-row version. The third row of seats can be folded down completely to further expand the luggage compartment. 

It offers plenty of head, shoulder and legroom thus all the occupants get ample space. The space is very generous due to the stocky and robust design of the body. 

It has numerous storage areas including large sized door pockets, compartmentalized storage areas in the center console including a cavern storage space and a cooler box storage in the center console armrest and a large glove box.

There are 4 cup holders, 2 located in the front center console, while the other 2 located at the second-row center armrest. As for bottle holders it gets 4 with one located in each side door panel.

It gets one 12-volt power socket located in the front and 2 USB ports located in the front center console, middle and back rows. There’s also a wireless charging function.

It is capable of 2,302-litre of storage with the third-row seats up, which allows ample load to be fitted in for an outdoor adventure.

The measurements are 5,080 mm length, 1,980 mm width, 1,865 mm height, and weigh 2,740 kg with a wheelbase spanning 2,850 mm.

The Lexus LX 570 exudes a stocky and beefy yet elegant exterior with a front bumper that is very aggressive looking. 

For the regular LX 570, it gets a massive spindle grille that features horizontal bars with plating design and is paired to a standard and clean looking bumper. 

As for the LX 570 Sport, it also gets the spindle grille but features a sport mesh design that is paired to a sport bumper, which has a set of air inlets located at the bottom edges. 

Portraying a commanding front, the both grilles are further highlighted by chrome trims and paired to a set of large and sporty looking air vents located at the corners of the bumper.

At the rear, it gets a more fairly boxy layout with horizontal contours for the overall design that is paired with a clean and slim looking roof edge spoiler. 

Just like the front, the rear of the regular LX 570 gets a standard bumper, while the LX 570 Sport gets a sport bumper design. 

Though it looks minimalist but with the Lexus emblem in chrome situated in the middle of the tailgate really sets the whole layout elegantly.

It gets a pair of sharp triple L-shaped LED headlamps. The units come fitted with LED Daytime Running Lights and LED fog lamps at the bottom. 

The positioning of the headlights is slanted slightly inwards to give it a fierce looking face and the sharp angular-design gives the front a more focused and elegant look.

At the back, the tail lamps feature LED combination units. The large wraparound L-shaped design has a very commanding layout of the back. 

The side mirrors are power adjusted and power folded with sequential LED turn-indicators, and have heating, electrochromic, memory and puddle lamp function. 

The LX 570 rides on a set of 21-inch rims in medium grey metallic, while the LX 570 Sport rides on a set of 21-inch forged rims in black with both designs getting a bright machined finish and 275/50 R21 rubbers.

Both the Lexus LX 570 is equipped with the Lexus Safety System+ and it consists of the following. Front Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Adaptive High-beam System (AHS). As for the standard systems, they are Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control System (VSC), Traction Control System (TRC), Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Multi-Terrain Monitor and Clearance Sonar.

Passive safety includes 10 airbags (driver and front Passenger, driver knee and front passenger knee, front and second row side airbags and curtain shield), seat belt anchors, reminders and pre-tensioners, front and rear parking sensors, surround view or 360-degree parking camera, ISOFIX, front impact beams, side impact beams, immobilizer, siren with back-up battery, intrusion and glass break sensor, and flat tyre indicator.

There are 6 drive modes: Normal, Eco, Comfort, Sport S, Sport S+ and Custom.

It is installed with a 12.3-inch EMV infotainment system that also comes with a dual 11.6-inch with remote control rear seat entertainment. Said system supports navigation, USB, Bluetooth, AUX connectivity and wireless charging.

The Lexus Safety System+ will make cruising through the city or speeding through the highway a more relaxing experience. While the Multi-Terrain Monitor and Clearance Sonar will make off-roading a lot easier. 

Installed with the Mark Levinson Surround Sound System with 19-speakers and 5.1-channel playback.  

Both the Lexus LX 570 harbours a 3UR-FE, 5.7L 8-cylinder V-type, 32-valve, with dual VVT-I DOHC engine that produces 362 hp of power at 5,600 rpm and 530 Nm of torque at 3,200 rpm.

It gets an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Power is sent to all four wheels via a full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system.  

It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 210 km/h.

The fuel tank capacity is 93-litres for the main tank and 45-litres for the sub-tank.

The Lexus LX has smart keyless entry with engine push-start button with additional smart card key, hands-free split powered tailgate, 4-zone climate concierge with rear air-conditioning vents, power tilt and telescopic (with memory) steering column, paddle shifters, Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), electro chromic inside rear-view mirror, auto fold and retract, electro chromic, heater, memory with puddle lamp side mirrors, wireless charger, centre armrest cooler box storage, seats with 10-way driver and 8-way passenger power adjustments with 2-way lumbar support, auto heater and ventilation for driver and passenger and a memory function for the driver, as for the second row, it comes with a 2-way sliding power adjustment, 60:40 layout, armrests with control switches and manual recline, the third row comes with a power foldable function and a 50:50 layout, door trim illumination, door handle illumination, foot lamps, glove box lamp, luggage room lamp, door courtesy lamp with Lexus emblem projection, front and rear parking sensors, auto headlights, auto high-beam and auto rain sensing wipers function.

There are rear air vents located at all rows, with a separate set of controls.

It is very spacious and extremely comfortable. Usually, cars with a third row suffers huge body roll and could be nauseating but, in the LX the ride is very stable and comfortable up until the last row. 

Off-road and urban driving capabilities are outstanding with the amount of driver assistance installed especially with the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Active Height Control (AHC).

As a luxury car, a serene cabin is very important, as such all the NVH aspects are accounted for. Thus, wind noise is almost unnoticeable especially at high speeds and even during off-roading.  

The Lexus LX 570 is a marvel of its class. It is built to portray a combination of a sporty and elegant outlook, along with the space and practicality of an SUV but to the extreme.

Its striking exterior is very well designed with the harmonious proportions, powerful contours, and extreme emphasis on the enormous chrome plated grille.
