The Mercedes-Benz EQA continues in Malaysia as the EQA 250 AMG Line, remaining the brand’s entry-level fully electric SUV.

The Malaysian model uses a single front-mounted electric motor producing 140 KW (188 HP) and 375 NM, paired with a 66.5 KWH lithium-ion battery.

It offers up to 429 KM WLTP range, accelerates from 0-100 KM/H in 8.9 seconds and is priced at RM296,888 on-the-road without insurance.

The Malaysian-market EQA retains the earlier H243 specification and styling rather than the newer facelifted version introduced in selected overseas markets.

The cabin retains the familiar compact Mercedes-Benz dashboard layout centred around two adjoining digital displays.

A 10.25-INCH digital instrument cluster is paired with a 10.25-INCH MBUX touchscreen under one wide glass panel.

Circular turbine-style air vents and ambient lighting reinforce the premium interior presentation.

The centre console houses a touchpad-style controller, vehicle controls, storage compartments and cup holders.

A Qi wireless smartphone charger is also provided, while the gear selector is mounted on the steering column to free additional space around the console.

A 10.25-INCH full-LCD digital instrument display sits directly ahead of the driver.

They work together with the THERMOTRONIC dual-zone automatic climate-control system to provide more direct airflow to second-row passengers.

The EQA uses MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension.

Its Comfort Suspension is tuned for everyday refinement rather than outright sportiness, while the battery’s low position helps improve stability despite the vehicle’s considerable 2,040 KG kerb weight.

The absence of a combustion engine significantly reduces powertrain noise and vibration.

Additional body insulation and the enclosed electric drivetrain contribute to a quiet cabin during urban driving, although road and tyre noise become more noticeable at highway speeds.

The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 AMG Line remains a refined and well-equipped compact electric SUV, but its age is becoming increasingly obvious against newer competitors.

Its 188 HP and 375 NM output is adequate rather than exciting, while the 66.5 KWH battery and 429 KM WLTP range remain usable for everyday driving.

The cabin still offers premium strengths including electrically adjustable heated front seats, MBUX, Head-Up Display, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and comprehensive safety equipment.

However, its 100 KW DC charging, 340 L boot and RM296,888 price make it increasingly difficult to justify beside newer premium EVs offering substantially more range, faster charging and performance for similar or lower money.

For buyers specifically wanting the Mercedes-Benz badge in a compact electric SUV format, the EQA remains competent, but it is clearly one of the older products in the brand’s EV portfolio.
