The Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC is a fully electric compact luxury SUV derived from the GLB platform, distinguished by its dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain and unusually practical seven-seat configuration. Malaysia received a single fully imported EQB 350 4MATIC Electric Art variant.

The Malaysian EQB is no longer sold new, with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s current EV range no longer listing the model. Its final locally listed price was RM338,888 on-the-road without insurance, compared with the original RM328,888 launch price. Malaysia did not receive the later global facelift as a replacement model.

Its front and rear electric motors produce a combined 215 KW (288 HP) and 520 NM, drawing energy from a 66.5 KWH usable lithium-ion battery. Maximum range is 423 KM WLTP, while 0-100 KM/H takes 6.2 seconds.

The dashboard uses Mercedes-Benz’s familiar compact-car widescreen architecture.

A 10.25-INCH digital instrument display sits alongside a matching 10.25-INCH MBUX infotainment touchscreen beneath a single glass panel.

Rose-gold and titanium-grey pearl detailing, backlit spiral-pattern trim and turbine-style air vents give the cabin a distinctive EQ appearance.

The centre console provides covered storage, cup holders and the MBUX touchpad used to operate the infotainment system.

The gear selector is positioned on the steering column, leaving the central area relatively uncluttered.

A wireless smartphone charging pad is also provided.

A 10.25-INCH fully digital instrument display provides speed, battery state, remaining range, navigation and assistance information.

The EQB also features a Head-Up Display, allowing important information to be projected into the driver’s line of sight.

Several configurable display themes are available through MBUX.

The Malaysian model features ARTICO synthetic leather and Cupertino fabric upholstery with rose-gold and titanium-grey detailing.

The front seats are electrically adjustable with memory functionality.

The second row uses a 40:20:40 split-folding and sliding arrangement, while the two individual third-row seats fold into the luggage floor when not required.

The EQB accommodates seven occupants in a 2+3+2 arrangement, making it unusual among compact premium EVs.

The second-row bench can slide fore and aft by approximately 140 MM, allowing passenger and luggage space to be balanced.

Mercedes-Benz states that the two third-row seats are suitable for occupants up to approximately 1.65 M tall.

A Nappa leather multifunction sports steering wheel is standard.

Integrated controls operate the digital displays, audio and assistance systems.

Galvanised steering-wheel paddles allow regenerative braking levels to be altered rather than controlling conventional transmission gears.

The cabin includes a glove compartment, centre-console compartment, large door pockets and seatback storage nets.

A dedicated load-compartment package adds further luggage-management features.

There is no front luggage compartment, with the area beneath the bonnet occupied by drivetrain and electrical hardware.

Two cup holders are integrated into the front centre console.

Rear passengers receive additional cup and bottle storage through the centre armrest and door compartments.

Mercedes-Benz also provides bottle storage throughout the three-row cabin.

USB connectivity is provided for occupants across the cabin.

The front receives wireless smartphone charging, while additional charging connections are available for rear passengers.

A 12 V power socket is positioned in the luggage compartment.

The cabin combines ARTICO upholstery, fabric inserts, metallic detailing and extensive soft-touch surfaces.

64-colour ambient lighting highlights the turbine-style air vents and illuminated dashboard trim.

Its overall presentation remains recognisably Mercedes-Benz, although the architecture reflects the earlier generation of the brand’s compact-car interior design.

The Malaysian seven-seat EQB provides approximately 465 L with the third-row seats folded, expanding to around 1,620 L when the second and third rows are folded.

Luggage room becomes considerably more limited when all seven seats are occupied.

The sliding second row can also be moved forwards to free additional cargo space when required.

The EQB measures 4,684 MM long, 1,834 MM wide and 1,667 MM tall, with a 2,829 MM wheelbase.

Kerb weight stands at approximately 2,175 KG.

Its tall, squared-off proportions maximise passenger space and allow Mercedes-Benz to package three seating rows within a relatively compact overall footprint.

The EQB uses Mercedes-EQ’s distinctive Black Panel front grille, incorporating a large central three-pointed star.

A continuous LED light strip visually links the headlamps across the upper edge of the grille, immediately identifying the vehicle as part of Mercedes-Benz’s earlier EQ electric family.

The Electric Art exterior treatment prioritises a cleaner appearance rather than the more aggressive styling associated with AMG Line models.

The rear maintains the boxy proportions of the GLB but receives a unique electric-model lighting treatment.

A continuous LED light strip connects the rear lamps across the tailgate, visually widening the vehicle.

An EASY-PACK powered tailgate with HANDS-FREE ACCESS is standard for the Malaysian model.

The Malaysian EQB 350 features LED High Performance headlamps with LED daytime running lights.

Adaptive Highbeam Assist automatically manages high-beam operation according to surrounding traffic.

The EQB 350 Electric Art rides on 19-INCH five-spoke light-alloy wheels.

The Malaysian specification uses 235/50 R19 tyres.

Polished aluminium roof rails further reinforce its practical SUV character.

Standard active-safety equipment includes ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control and traction management.

Active Brake Assist can provide collision warnings and automatically apply the brakes when required.

Hill Start Assist and Tyre Pressure Monitoring are also provided.

The Malaysian EQB 350 features seven airbags, comprising front airbags, front-side airbags, curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.

Seven three-point seat belts are provided, while ISOFIX child-seat mounting capability extends across the second and third seating rows.

Mercedes-Benz specifically designed the third-row curtain-airbag coverage to protect occupants in the rearmost seats.

DYNAMIC SELECT provides selectable driving settings that alter accelerator response, steering and energy-management behaviour.

Available settings prioritise either efficiency, everyday comfort or stronger performance.

Regenerative braking can additionally be controlled independently through the steering-wheel paddles.

The EQB receives Mercedes-Benz’s Driving Assistance Package.

Systems include Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and extended automatic restart in traffic jams.

Active Brake Assist and Exit Warning are also fitted.

A Parking Package with 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist helps manoeuvre the relatively boxy seven-seat SUV.

The Malaysian EQB features an upgraded 10-speaker audio system.

It provides significantly broader cabin coverage than a basic speaker setup, particularly useful given the three-row interior.

No Burmester system was fitted to the original Malaysian EQB 350 specification.

Being fully electric, the EQB 350 uses two electric motors rather than a combustion engine.

An asynchronous motor powers the front axle, while a permanently excited synchronous motor drives the rear axle.

Combined maximum output stands at 215 KW (288 HP / 292 PS) and 520 NM.

Each electric motor operates through a single-speed fixed-ratio reduction transmission.

There are no conventional multi-speed gear changes.

Electric torque is therefore delivered immediately and continuously to the wheels.

The EQB 350 features dual-motor 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

Its 520 NM of immediately available torque provides strong urban and overtaking response despite a kerb weight above two tonnes.

As a fully electric vehicle, the EQB consumes no petrol or diesel.

Its 66.5 KWH usable lithium-ion battery operates at approximately 420 VOLTS and provides 388-423 KM WLTP range, with official consumption of approximately 18.1-19.7 KWH/100 KM.

Maximum AC charging input is 11 KW, with a full recharge requiring approximately six hours.

CCS2 DC fast charging reaches 100 KW, allowing a 10-80% recharge in approximately 32 minutes.

The EQB does not support Vehicle-to-Load functionality.

Standard equipment includes KEYLESS-GO, keyless start, HANDS-FREE ACCESS, electrically adjustable front seats with memory, automatic wipers and an EASY-PACK powered tailgate.

Wireless smartphone charging and ambient lighting further improve everyday usability.

The second-row sliding function also makes access to the third row easier.

The EQB features THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control with dedicated rear air-conditioning vents.

Second-row occupants therefore receive direct airflow rather than relying solely on the front dashboard vents.

Third-row passengers remain dependent on airflow circulating from the main cabin.

The Malaysian EQB 350 uses Comfort suspension.

Its front suspension uses a strut arrangement, while the rear employs a sophisticated multi-link design suited to the additional mass of the battery and rear electric motor.

The relatively tall 235/50 R19 tyres help maintain useful compliance over poorer road surfaces.

Mercedes-Benz added extensive acoustic insulation around both electric motors to limit high-frequency drivetrain noise.

The air-conditioning compressor is mounted using vibration-isolating elements, while revised suspension bushings further reduce noise entering the cabin.

Combined with the inherently quiet electric drivetrain, the EQB remains particularly refined during urban and suburban driving.

The Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC remains an unusual EV because it combines a genuinely compact footprint with seven seats, dual-motor AWD and premium-brand equipment.

Its 288 HP and 520 NM drivetrain provides respectable 6.2-second acceleration, while the 66.5 KWH battery delivers up to 423 KM WLTP. Charging at 11 KW AC and 100 KW DC was competitive when it arrived but is now modest beside newer 800-VOLT EVs.

The EQB’s strongest attributes are practicality and equipment, including three seating rows, sliding second-row seats, MBUX dual displays, Head-Up Display, 360-degree camera, comprehensive Driving Assistance Package and hands-free powered tailgate.

However, its ageing electrical architecture, modest DC charging speed and substantial weight now show the model’s age. The globally facelifted EQB was never introduced locally, and the Malaysian EQB 350 is now discontinued, having last been listed at RM338,888. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is instead preparing a new electric GLB as part of its next-generation EV line-up.
