Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV

Highly anticipated, Proton’s latest offering (2026), the all-new Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, officially launched in Malaysia.

A Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), the C-segment (SUV) runner underpins Proton’s Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform.

Fully imported (CBU – China), available via PRO-NET (Proton New Energy Technology) are three variants (Prime – RM109,800, Premium – RM123,800, Premium Plus – RM129,800).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) cover vehicle (six years, unlimited mileage) and EV battery-component (eight years/160,000 km) warranties.

Exterior (single-tone) colours (Prime, Premium, Premium Plus: Aquamarine Blue, Obsidian Black, Galena Grey, Lithium White, Mercury Silver). 

Interior (single-tone – dual-tone) colours (single-tone: Onyx Black – dual-tone: Alabaster White).

The all-new e.MAS 7 PHEV has a rounded and tiered dashboard, linked to a high-rising-floating centre console (rotary gear selector, wireless charger, armrest, storages).

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors), it sees two colour schemes (single-tone: Onyx Black – dual-tone: Alabaster White) with contrast trims (Aluminium, Gloss Black, Wood veneer).

Equipped are driver/central displays (instrument cluster, infotainment), an air-conditioning system (vents: rectangular – controls: buttons), an ambient light system (256-colour: Premium, Premium Plus) and a pop-up dash speaker (left corner).

Inclusively, the layout is ergonomic (functional), with accessibilities purposefully arranged (driver-oriented, user-friendly).

Installed is a 10.2-inch HD TFT-LCD (Thin-Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) fully digital (Multi-Information Display – MID) driver display (instrument cluster) with a Windshield Head-Up Display – W-HUD: Premium, Premium Plus).

Features are Bluetooth, navigation/media, Proton voice command (two-zone – ‘Hi e.MAS’: English, Bahasa Melayu), Proton e.MAS App (phone app control – remote control, vehicle status, charging stations, functions), customisable interface (drive mode dependent) and vehicle telematics.

Comfortable, the interior sees leatherette (Prime, Premium, Premium Plus) upholstery in two colour schemes (single-tone: Onyx Black, Alabaster White).

The front gets manual-operated (Prime: driver-passenger-multi-way-adjust) and electronic-powered (Premium, Premium Plus: driver-passenger-multi-way-adjust, backrest full recline, ventilation) bolstered seats. The rear gets a manual-operated (60:40 split-full-flat-fold) bolstered bench.

Included are armrests (front: centre console – rear: centre seat fold-out), headrests (front, rear) and panoramic glass sunroof (sunshade – Premium Plus).

A five-seater (e-SUV), the cabin offers generous space with comfortable seatings, providing ample interior mobility for the occupants (front, rear).

Mounted is a two-spoke-flat-bottom steering wheel. Leatherette (interior colour dependent) with contrast trims (Aluminium, Gloss Black).

Features are multi-switches (Bluetooth, media, voice command, vehicle telematics) and column adjustments (tilt, telescopic).

Aiding the drive is an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system (turning radius: 5.2 m).

Provided are four cup holders (two: front, rear) and four bottle holders (one: side doors).

Included are Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. 

Accessing (Premium, Premium Plus) its electronic-powered (handsfree: remote/key fob, interior button, tailgate button) tailgate, opens to 528 litres (rear seats up) and 2,065 litres (rear seats down) of load capacities.

Weighing in at 1,735 kg (Prime), 1,760 kg (Premium) and 1,835 kg (Premium Plus), the all-new e.MAS 7 PHEV measures at 4,740 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, 1,685 mm tall and with a wheelbase spanning 2,755 mm.

Sleek and sporty, it parades a roundly shaped exterior, emphasised by seamlessly aerodynamic and clean-cut contours.

The front-end sees a mildly formed bonnet (raised sides), rounded quarter panels (raised fenders, wheel arch extensions), full-width light bar (Premium, Premium Plus) and a roundly sculpted bumper (lower-central vented, corner cutouts, ‘Proton’ emblem).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: bumper, wheel arch extensions), body trims (Black: vent, bumper corner cutout inserts, side sill insert, side mirror arms – Silver: roof rails – Chrome: window surrounds – body-colour: side sills, door handles – Black-Chrome: ‘Proton’ emblem).

Borderline bulbous, it continues the roundly shaped profile, emphasised by symmetrically flowing surfaces and seamlessly cut lines.

The rear-end sees a mildly dipped roofline (roof-edge spoiler), a roundly upright tailgate (‘Proton’/’e.MAS 7 PHEV’ scripts), rounded quarter panels (raised fenders, wheel arch extensions) and a covered bumper (diffuser: exhaust-omitted).

Accentuations, body clad (Black: diffuser, wheel arch extensions), body trims (Black: side sill insert – Silver: roof rails – Chrome: window surrounds – body-colour: roof-edge spoiler, side sills, diffuser strip, door handles – Chrome: ‘Proton’/’e.MAS 7 PHEV’ scripts).

Angularly slim, the headlamps are housed softly pointed and inward-tilted, linked by a full width light bar (Premium, Premium Plus). Installed are full LED (projectors) units.

Features are automatic On/Off/high-/low-beam/cornering, Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC), Daytime Running Lights (DRL – LED), welcome/leaving lights and sequential turn signals (LED).

Roundly elongated, the tail lamps are framed full width (3D light bar) and softly angular with rectangular wraparound edges. Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic On/Off, welcome/leaving lights and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a high-mounted brake light (spoiler integrated – LED).

The side mirrors (dual-tone: black-body-colour) are electronic-powered (auto-fold: Premium, Premium Plus – adjust: Prime, Premium, Premium Plus), with turn signals (LED) and blind-spot indicators (Blind Spot Detection – BSD: Premium, Premium Plus).

Mounted is a set of ventilated (front) and solid (rear) disc brakes.

Aiding the drive are an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold system and a Brake Energy Recuperation system (regenerative braking – three levels: Low, Medium, High).

Fitted are sets of 18-inch (Prime) and 19-inch (Premium, Premium Plus) alloy rims, wrapped in 225/55 R18 (Prime: front, rear) and 235/50 R19 (Premium: front, rear) Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance SUV (Prime, Premium, Premium Plus) tyres.

The all-new e.MAS 7 PHEV (variant-specific) features the following suit of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Entertainment is channelled via a standard sound system (six speakers – Prime) and a Flyme sound system (16 speakers – Premium, Premium Plus). Included is a pop-up dash speaker (left corner) and headrest speakers (Premium, Premium Plus).

The all-new e.MAS 7 PHEV (Prime, Premium, Premium Plus) comes with a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.

Nestled is a (BHE15-DFN) 1.5-litre inline four-cylinder 16-valve Naturally Aspirated MultiPort-Injection (MP-i) with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) DOHC petrol engine (99 PS/73 kW, 125 Nm) and a transmission-integrated (11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission – DHT) electric motor (Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM: 160 kW/218 PS, 262 Nm).

Total system output (262 PS/193 kW, 262 Nm).

Fused (e-motor-integrated) to the setup is a single-speed DHT (11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) automatic transmission.

Power is rooted to the front (Prime, Premium, Premium Plus) wheels, via a Front-Wheel Drive (RWD) system.

0 to 50 km/h acceleration is done in 8.0 secs (Prime, Premium) and 8.2 secs (Premium Plus). Top speed is electronically capped at 170 km/h (Prime, Premium, Premium Plus).

Juicing-up the e-motor and completing the hybrid setup is a Lithium-Ion (LFP – Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery (Prime, Premium: 18.4 kWh – Premium Plus: 29.8 kWh).

Charging via AC (Type 2 – Prime, Premium, Premium Plus: 6.6 kW) takes 5.0 hrs (Prime, Premium, Premium Plus) for a 30% to 80% State-of-Charge (SoC). 

Charging via DC (CCS2 – Prime, Premium: 30 kW, Premium Plus: 60 kW) takes 20 mins (Prime, Premium) and 16 mins (Premium Plus) for a 30% to 80% SoC.

The pure electric driving range (NEDC) is 105 km (Prime, Premium) and 170 km (Premium Plus).

Fuel tank capacity is at 51 litres. The combined fuel consumption (driving: city, highway) is rated (NEDC) at 4.3 l/100 km (Prime, Premium) and 4.4 l/100 km (Premium Plus).

The combined (hybrid: petrol-electric) driving range (NEDC) is 1,000 km (Prime, Premium) and 1,065 km (Premium Plus).

Included are Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.

Good sound insulation with most of the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects accounted for. The ride is quiet, refined and the road noise is mostly muted.
