Proton Saga

PROTON has launched the facelifted Proton SAGA 2022 on May 12, 2022. The fourth generation Saga introduced four variants of Standard MT, Standard AT, Premium AT, and a new Premium S AT.

The price ranges from RM34,400 to RM44,300 on-the-road excluding insurance, with sales tax exemption, valid till June 30,2022.

It is available in five exterior colours – Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Rosewood Maroon and Ruby Red.

Cabin wise, the top variant features a sporty dark colour scheme, redesigned semi-leatherette seats and new carpet mats with red edging.

Proton SAGA 2022 is offering LCD segmented with metre info display. As an added info, a friendly reminder appears on the monitor once the engine is switched off, asking owners to check they have all their belongings and have not left occupants behind.

A-segment sedan that has four seats covered in Semi Leatherette with fabric. Drivers receive Seat Height Adjuster and Rear Seat Fold Bench Type.

Both front and rear passengers will be spoiled with maximum comfort as the Saga was designed for the individuals’ greatest convenience. The vehicle will leave no shortage of leg space for Asian passengers who have fully extended their seat. 

Meanwhile, the steering wheel comes with tilt adjustment painted based on its theme and is wrapped in leatherette for comfort along with red finishing on the steering switches.

This is supplemented by metre combination rings and air outlets carrying the same flash of red while the finishing touch is provided by redesigned climate control switches that are paired to the N95 Cabin Filter to filter out smoke particulates, dust, bacteria, and other pollutants.

The car has a glove compartment that can fit not only the car manual and service booklet but also is able to fit some essential items such as your face masks and sanitisers. Not only that, but there is also a decent-sized glove box for the convenience of the passengers. 

There are bays below the air vent where occupants get to insert their tools. Occupants also get to put their items in the rear compartment.

There are two cup holders. There are also four bottle holders, each at every door panel.

Nonetheless, there are two Charging Port available and one 12V power socket.

With 420-litres of boot space, luggage capacity is generous, and can be expanded by using the rear seat fold function to transport oversized items.

At the front, Proton SAGA 2022 is designed with a new logo which displays an ‘uncaged’ tiger. The A-segment saloon receives LED headlamps and halogens. The design is rather simple which resembles its previous predecessor.

The facelifted version of Proton SAGA 2022 is completed with a front and side skirtings along with trunk spoiler. The S variant appears to have a compact design that merges with black plate number and a ‘PROTON’ wording.

It comes in LED Daytime Running Lights and halogen headlamps.

The tail lamps are normal bulb units. 

The vehicle has 4 Windows, Driver's and Front Passenger Side Auto Up and Down.  Apart from that, the model receives Door Mirrors with Turn Signal Lamps.

Ventilated Disc/Drum 

The Saga Standard MT and Standard AT come equipped with 14-inch steel wheels and 14-inch alloy wheels respectively but the Premium AT variant comes with 15-inch alloy wheels. 

Active safety includes SRS Airbags, Rear Seat ISOFIX and Top Teather Anchorage, Anti- Lock Braking System, Reverse Camera, Front Parking Sensors, and Rear Parking Sensors

Passive safety features are Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), and Hill Hold Assist (HHA) which available for top variant only.

There are ECO drive assist and normal driving modes.

The infotainment system is a digital 12.3-inch Touchscreen or 7-inch Touchscreen Display with MP3 playback, AUX-in, USB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, with Smartphone Connectivity both Android and iOS. Then, it adds on to Bluetooth 4.2, Reminder Before Leaving Vehicle, and 4 speakers.

The driver assistance for facelifted Proton Saga comes with keyless entry and push start button. Other than that, the S variant offers ECO drive assist.

There are 4 speakers all in total. 

The Saga is equipped with a 1.3-litre naturally-aspirated VVT four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 94 hp at 5,750 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. 

The Saga is equipped with a 5-Speed MT transmission for the Standard MT variant and 4-Speed AT for both the Standard AT and Premium AT variants.

The Saga is most suitable to be driven at city area. 

The Saga has an average fuel consumption of approximately 6.7 l/100km. 

The Saga comes with a power steering, an onboard computer, foldable rear seat, remote trunk opener and a height-adjustable driver seat. 

Apart from that, the vehicle is equipped with switches button located on the steering wheel which allow for easy access to change audio settings and answer calls while driving, and three conveniently located USB ports make it easy to charge electronic devices

The Proton Saga offers a comfortable and connected steering experience. With the new facelifted body kit, there’s stability and steadiness while gripping on the Hydraulic Power Steering wheel.

The sound insulation in the car was not too bad, as road and wind noises were noticeable but not too loud. 

In terms of looks, the compact and practical design will grab the attention of all Malaysians. Not only that, the Saga has all the appropriate safety features that will give the drivers confidence as well as will help them feel safer on the road, as well as to brave drivers who have just got their P license. 

The A segment sedan Proton SAGA 2022 packed with practical and convenient features. The model has been upgraded with new push start button makes it easier to start the engine while a remote trunk release on the key fob ensures easier access to the boot.
