Proton Persona

The 2020 Proton Persona is the second generation series, which was introduced in four variants; the 1.6L Standard MT, 1.6L Standard CVT, 1.6L Executive CVT, and the 1.6L Premium CVT. Prices are RM 42,600, RM 44,600, RM49,600 and RM54,600 respectively. These prices do not include insurance but are inclusive of the sales and service tax. The Persona highlights space, comfort, and fuel efficiency. 

The design is a simple modern layout that is mostly finished with hard plastic. 

The instrument cluster is a standard analog display with backlit, with its display layout straightforward and clear. The Persona comes with spacious 5 seats for maximum comfort. The black and beige colour scheme was maintained and the seats are finished in new part-leather upholstery. Not only that but the rear seats are also completed with 60/40 split-folding for the Premium CVT variant.

The car has a glove compartment that can fit not only the car manual and service booklet but also is able to fit some essential items such as your face masks and sanitizers. Not only that, there is also a decent sized glove box for the convenience of the passengers. 

There are three cup holders; two located in front near the gear lever and one in the rear. There are also four bottle holders, each at every door panel.

The Persona gives off a bolder and more practical feel to it with the main focus being the newly redesigned bumpers and the iconic Infinite Weave with Ethereal Bow grille. 

The rear of the Persona displays their sleek yet spacious design that focuses on the new and improved bumper with a slimmer chrome strip, as well as fresh boot lid garnish along with the Proton script.

The Persona comes equipped with 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels for all variants except the Premium CVT that gets a two-tone finish. 

The Persona has the following active safety features; vehicle stability control, traction control, brake assist, advanced safety assist, and hill start assist. 

The passive features include dual front airbags for all variants except the Premium CVT variant which has six airbags, ISOFIX in the second-row child seat anchors, ABS with EBD and brake assist, reverse camera as well as front and rear parking sensors. 

The Persona is equipped with standard driver assistance features such as the front and rear parking sensors, parking camera, cruise control and hill start assist. 

The Premium CVT and Executive CVT variants feature a new and improved 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is compatible with Bluetooth.

The Persona is equipped with a 1.6-litre VVT four-cylinder engine that produces 109 hp at 5,750 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.

The Persona is equipped with the choice of a 5-speed manual for the Standard MT variant or CVT gearbox transmission for the rest of the variants.

The Premium and Executive CVT variants come with a touchscreen audio display system, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, power door locks with remote keyless entry system, and push start button. 

The quality of the ride is firm and the seats are comfortable.  

The sound insulation in the car was not too bad, as road and wind noises were noticeable but not too loud. 

In terms of looks, the compact and practical design will grab the attention of all Malaysians. Not only that, the Persona has all the appropriate safety features that will give the drivers confidence as well as will help them feel safer on the road, as well as to brave drivers who have just got their P license.
