Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertible Revealed As Brand’s Priciest Offering Yet
Revealed earlier this week was the new Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertible. Aptly, this is the open-top twin to the base coupe Batur.
If you’re going to shell out copious amounts of currency to acquire one of the last Bentley models to feature its signature W12 powerplant, then you might as well do it in high style. Perhaps that was the rationale behind the new Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertible special pictured.
Revealed earlier this week, the new open-top twin of Bentley’s limited-run Batur special stands as the third bespoke offering to stem from its Mulliner coachbuilding arm after base coupe mentioned, and the Bacalar. Unlike the latter, this latest offering has a retractable roof.
Unlike the similar-based Bacalar special, the Batur Convertible features a retractable roof feature.
According to Bentley, it plans to build just 16 units of this open-top Batur, each costing well over £2 million – approx. RM11.85 million.
According to the Crewe based marque, it plans to build just 16 examples, each poised to cost well over £2 million – approx. RM11.85 million. Crucially, this (presumably) Continental GTC-based special will see all 16 units harness Crewe’s signature 12-cyl powertrain.
Said twin-turbo 6.0-litre mill is similar to what’s primed in the Continental GT Speed that landed locally not too long ago, outputting 740 HP and 1,000 NM. Standing as the most powerful iteration of said mill, it should enable the Batur Convertible to despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 3.4 secs.
Bentley adds that almost every surface of the Batur Convertible can be customised, meaning no two units will be the same.
Aptly, no two examples will be same thanks to the high degree of customisation the Mulliner arm is set to perform on each unit based on their individual customer’s preference. Bentley notes prospects can choose the colour and material used for “practically every surface.”
Adding to which is the “infinite” range of exterior paintwork choice, along with hand-painted graphics, various types of finishes for the metal bodywork trims, not to mention an ombré-style effect for the front grille, amongst many other options.
Notable too is Crewe's note that this will be "one of the last" to feature its signature W12 powertrain, suggesting that it may offer more specials with said 12-cyl mill before production for it ceases this summer.
Whilst Bentley notes that the Batur Convertible will be "one of the last ever" to feature the W12 heart, said statement leads us to believe Crewe has further specials primed with this mill planned. However, details for this remains unclear.
What is though is the planned end of production for said 12-cyl mill by summer this year. On that note, Bentley has also reportedly closed order books worldwide for its current models powered by its current 4.0-litre twin-turbo mill.
The latter is set to see the recently unveiled new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) successor take its reins soon and power the Flying-B’s core models – namely the Continental GT, Continental GTC, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.
