The Land Rover Defender has been given a slight makeover in latest 2024MY guise, and it now packs more luxuries on board.
The distinctively styled and arguably iconic new generation Land Rover Defender has been refreshed. In its latest 2204 model year guise, the 4x4 SUV gets a host of upgrades and new additions that sees it presenting itself with a whole new level of luxury.
On top of the enhanced luxe, the Defender also gains a series of uprated powertrains including a peppier new diesel option. All of which comes just four years since the model was first introduced by the Tata-owned Land Rover marque.

Land Rover has also streamlined the variants line-up for the Defender. This sees prospects offered either the S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X, and V8 specifications across 90, 110, and 130 body style options.
Starting with the upgraded oil-burner, the Defender sees the introduction of a new D350 engine globally, which replaces the previous D300 unit. The mill now sees outputs raised up to 345 HP and a rather meaty 700 NM torque figure that now promises effortless towing abilities.

However, the highlight of this Defender is its luxury. Passenger comfort is enhanced with the Signature Interior Pack and the luxurious new Captain Chairs Pack for Defender 130 variant. Aptly, this pack sees its second row seats offer two individual luxury seats with armrests and comfortable winged headrests, both separated by an aisle for easy access to the third row.

Moving to the Signature Interior Pack, this option combines a slew of upgrades to Defender's interior across seating and trim finishes, providing a distinctive environment. This is also offered as standard kit for the Defender X and V8 models, and as a cost-option for Defender Dynamic HSE.

Notably, this pack adds 14-way power-adjustable front seats that also offer heating, cooling, and memory functions. As for the second row seats, key new features added through this pack includes climate seats with winged headrests in the Defender 110 and 130 models specifically. Additionally, third row seats also gain heating functions to improve cold-weather comforts.

The 2024MY update also garners the Defender with a new "Sedona" version.
Additionally, a brand-new "Sedona" version of the Defender 110 will also be available starting next year. This iteration sports custom red paint, a black trim pack, and an optional bonnet decal that represents the rocky landscape of the town named after an Arizona desert.

As for pricing, things in the UK start at £53,310 (RM 272,044) for the Defender S 90, while the smallest commercial Hard Top variant costs £60,470 (RM 308,581). The range-topping Defender 130, on the other hand, sees its UK pricing scheme start from £81,585 (RM 416,332).
As for local availability, this might take a while. Typically, JLR Malaysia takes less than a year to introduce updated model versions, so we could perhaps see this revised Defender making landfall towards the end of this year at the earliest. KR
