- McLaren's Fastest Non-Hybrid is Here and You Can't Buy One
Just went you think McLaren couldn't outdo itself with the Senna, they gave the world (or rather 15 very wealthy owners in exchange for undisclosed amount of money) the McLaren Sabre.
When the pictures surfaced online, rumours had it that it's an electrified Ultimate Series model. As it turns out, the McLaren Sabre has a tried and tested turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine without any form of electrical propulsion. It's also McLaren's most powerful ICE-ed supercar at 812hp and 800Nm of torque, 23hp more than the Senna. At full whack, this Tamiya-esque supercar is capable of 351km/h.
In terms of looks, the McLaren Sabre has a hint of the Speedtail in its silhouette, but the track-only Senna GTR and video-game only Ultimate Vision Grand Turismo have lent generously when it comes to aerodynamic parts. Fin and strakes define the exterior of McLaren's fastest 2-seater to date, the hilariously huge diffusers complete the dramatic effect.
As a 15-unit bespoke commission series by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), each of the owners were invited to a development track day at the Thermal Club Private Race Track so the development team could tune the car to the owners' likings. This car is also strictly meant for the US market, as it has ideas and innovations that global homologation would not permit. Shame.
If you fancy a more affordable (in strictly relative terms) McLaren experience, we have quite a few units for selection from our certified dealers, do check them out before they are sold out.
