C40 Recharge: All-New Pure Electric Model By Volvo, Now Available For Booking!
Volvo Cars has officially revealed the C40 Recharge, the brand’s newest fully electric vehicle. Available for bookings in markets across Europe, with the option of ordering from their home’s comfort or placing an online order with their retailer.
As part of its goal in reducing its portfolio’s complexity, Volvo Cars has drastically simplified the consumer offering for the C40 Recharge. Every unit will come with a Care offer that consists of service, warranty, roadside assistance, and insurance and home charging options where available.
“We call it the future of Volvo. That is because our Volvo C40 Recharge is more than just a new car. It is our first ever electric-only model and represents a significant step in our plan to move online to benefit consumer convenience. It is, in short, a completely new take on a Volvo,” said Volvo Cars head of global commercial operations Lex Kerssemakers.
It is reported that the company will roll out additional electric models in the following years, with goals of 50 percent of its global sales derived from fully electric cars by 2025. By 2030, Volvo intends to sell only pure electric vehicles.
Driving the vehicle are twin electric motors, located at the front and back axle each, powered by a 78kWh battery that can be charged to 80 percent in approximately 40 minutes. It is projected to have a range of about 420 kilometres, with over-the-air software upgrades likely to enhance it over time.
The C40 Recharge has a stunning rear-end design complementing the lower roofline, while the front presents a new face for Volvo EVs, with all the benefits of an SUV but with a lower and sleeker appearance. Headlamps with cutting-edge pixel technology are also included.
Interior-wise, the vehicle offers customers a high seating position preferred by most Volvo drivers, with a range of deco options available. It is also worth noting that the vehicle is Volvo’s first model to be completely leather-free.
Like the XC40 Recharge, the C40 Recharge is fitted with an infotainment system jointly developed with Google and based on the Android operating system. Google apps and services built-in are included, such as Google Assistant, Google Play and Google maps.
The C40 Recharge is expected to enter its production phase this fall and will be built alongside the XC40 Recharge at the Volvo Cars manufacturing plant in Gent, Belgium.
