- Toyota GR Supra Gets More Savvy Enhancements!
The Toyota GR Supra, known for its performance and agility, has just received yet another upgrade - focusing more on the tech side of things! This new enhancement is the second update to have been done, following a performance upgrade in July 2020.
Available in the 3.0-litre variant for the improved GR Supra is the installation of Apple CarPlay, complimenting the previous 8.8-inch touchscreen display with a touchpad remote, built-in navigation, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, amplifying the surrounding is the 12-speaker JBL HiFi Surround Sound System.
As a recap, the performance upgrade was focused on the turbocharged inline-six engine, allowing the vehicle to produce 384 hp at 5,800 to 6,500 rpm, and the same 500 Nm but with a wider range of 1,800 rpm to 5,000 rpm. Tuning and an additional dual-branch exhaust manifold with six ports is also introduced to increase power output. A new piston design is also seen, which reduces the engine’s compression ratio from 11:1 to 10.2:1.
Alongside the standard 8-speed automatic transmission, the GR Supra can now finish a century sprint in 4.1 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than its previous record. It is noted that the chassis has also been further tuned with the addition of a Performance Rod, ensuring more excellent cornering stability and lateral rigidity.
“The design and engineering parameters of the GR Supra from the onset placed great importance on performance, driving superiority and styling, elements that defined not only the heritage of the Supra but also represented the very foundation of Gazoo Racing (GR). Having said this, GR models are built to evolve continually, not only enhancing these three key parameters but also to incorporate Connected Mobility and intelligent driving systems as these new advancements become available and can further enhance our customers’ overall driving and ownership experience,” said Gazoo Racing Malaysia chief motorsport officer Akio Takeyama.
Safety-wise, nothing much has changed, but the vehicle still retains features such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Adaptive High Beam, System and Road Sign Assist, just to name a few.
The GR Supra is available in seven shades: White Metallic, Silver Metallic, Ice Grey Metallic, Black Metallic, Prominence Red, Lightning Yellow, and Matte Storme Grey Metallic.
The enhanced GR Supra is now available for booking at selected authorised Toyota GR Garage showrooms nationwide, with prices starting from RM589,987. Interested customers can find more information here.
