Leaping With A New Dramatic Disposition, The Ever-Desirable Jaguar F-Pace
Leaping with a new personality, the Jaguar F-PACE now comes with the exclusive R-Dynamic Black model and enhanced technologies across the range.
Jaguar’s exterior design director Adam Hatton commented, “The F-PACE is a performance SUV with an assertive, purposeful design which truly sets it apart. Creating the new F-PACE R-Dynamic Black allowed us to accentuate its sculpted, poised form and deliver even more visual impact and presence.”
The F-PACE R-Dynamic Black model benefits from a distinctive design with the enhanced specification of the Black Pack bespoke combination of equipment.
New technologies and connectivity have also been introduced across the range, with features that improve interior air quality and driver assistance systems that provide greater levels of support.
Akin to other F-PACE models, the R-Dynamic Black is offered with a choice of Ingenium powertrains, which ranges from the mild-hybrid (MHEV) diesel to the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) petrol.
Detailing further, the Black Pack upgrades feature the gloss black finish on the door mirror caps, grille face and surround, side window surrounds and fender vents with the Jaguar Leaper emblem.
Said theme continues with gloss black roof rails in place of the silver roof rails available as an option on core models, a fixed panoramic roof, privacy glass, rear valance and rear badges.
Accompanying these are the 20-inch ‘Style 1067’ multi-spoke wheels, also in gloss black. Then paired with red brake callipers to accentuate the striking overall design.
Completing the F-PACE R-Dynamic Black’s exterior is the full range of colours, comprising one solid finish, seven metallics including new Ostuni White, and two premium metallic paints.
Inside, the luxuriously crafted F-PACE R-Dynamic Black comes with contemporary Satin Charcoal Ash veneers and bright metal pedals.
Heightening the ambience is the enhanced Premium Cabin Lighting feature. It is also available on all other models in the range and comes with a choice of 30 colours instead of the previous 10.
Apart from that, the new Cabin Air Purification Plus includes two new features. First, the Air Purge, which uses the climate control system’s fans and recirculation function to freshen the air inside.
This is done before the doors are opened and achieved by setting a departure time through the infotainment touchscreen or the Jaguar Remote application.
The second is Cabin CO2 sensing, which monitors and regulates the carbon dioxide level in the vehicle interior.
Driving through areas with polluted air, this system ensures the climate control’s recirculation levels of CO2 remain within desired limits, thus enabling more fresh air to be admitted.
Infotainment and connectivity aspects, the F-PACE R-Dynamic Black features Jaguar's fast, intuitive and responsive Pivi Pro infotainment system.
To make smartphone connectivity more convenient, as standard, the existing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be wireless and available to patrons in a software-over-the-air (SOTA) update.
Furthermore, the SOTA capability also enables the Pivi Pro and vehicle systems to be updated remotely.
Pivi Pro’s dual-SIM tech enables simultaneous music streaming and also simultaneous two phone connections via Bluetooth.
Plus, the system also provides clearer calls with the vehicle’s external aerial, housed in the roof pod. The optional wireless charging pad features a signal booster to improve network reception.
For patrons opting for the F-PACE PHEV model, Pivi Pro makes it easy to use public charging networks. It can show charging stations, availability, the cost to operate, and estimated charging time.
As for the driver assistance systems, joining the comprehensive suite of assistance systems already available on F-PACE is a new feature called the Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist.
Perfect for long motorway journeys, it gently assists steering, acceleration and braking to centre the vehicle in lane while maintaining a set distance from vehicles ahead.
Self-sealing tyres are also a new feature for the F-PACE, complementing the Tyre Repair System, reduced-section and full-size spare wheels.
They feature an integrated sealant layer within the tyre cavity. Should an object penetrate the tread, the sealant surrounds the object and forms an air-tight seal, maintaining the tyre’s air pressure.
Available as an option and exclusively in the all-season specification, it comes in 19-inch, 20-inch and 21-inch sizes.
Performance-wise, the F-PACE harbours the 4-cylinder petrol P400e plug-in hybrid powertrain and a range of 4-cylinder, in-line 6-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines.
Its petrol powertrain range comprises the 250 PS 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo, 340 PS MHEV 3.0-litre 6-cylinder e-supercharger and turbo, 400 PS MHEV 3.0-litre 6-cylinder e-supercharger and turbo, 404 PS PHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo and exclusive to the SVR model, 550 PS 5.0-litre V8 supercharged.
Conversely for diesel, it includes the 163 PS MHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo, 199 PS 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo, 204 PS MHEV 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo, 300 PS 3.0-litre 6-cylinder series-sequential turbo and finally the 300 PS MHEV 3.0-litre 6-cylinder series-sequential turbo.
All F-PACE models feature intelligent all-wheel-drive systems, and most of the powertrain line-up feature 48V mild hybrid systems for even greater refinement and efficiency.
Every setup is married to an 8-speed automatic transmission controlled either by the Jaguar Drive Selector or the beautifully tactile metal shift paddles.
Interestingly for the PHEV range, the P400e plug-in hybrid model is the most powerful and efficient of the F-PACE powertrains.
The 300 PS petrol engine and the 105-kW electric motor paired with the automatic transmission produce a total of 404 PS and 640 Nm of torque.
Enabling it to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds while having CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency figures of 49 g/km and up to 2.2l/100 km, respectively.
Said P400e powertrain has three drive modes. ‘HYBRID’ mode uses both the petrol engine and the electric motor in the most efficient way, ‘EV’ mode provides zero-emissions, all-electric driving for up to 53 km and ‘SAVE’ mode enables the driver to recover up to 85 percent of battery charge.
Besides that, charging the P400e setup on the go or at home is simple and convenient with the fast charger.
It can charge up to 32 kW DC, taking the battery from 0 - 80 percent capacity in 30 minutes. Whereas, a 7 kW AC domestic wall box can manage this in one hour 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, for the MHEV powertrain range, the most notable would be the P400 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder petrol setup.
This superbly refined format develops 400 PS and 550 Nm of torque, in turn enabling the F-PACE to achieve an acceleration of 0 – 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
Notably, it has advanced technologies, including a twin-scroll turbocharger supported by an electric supercharger, continuously variable inlet valve lift control and a 250-bar direct fuel injection system.
Touching a little on the F-PACE SVR model, it is a performance SUV range with enhanced dynamics, motorsport-inspired design details, and a luxurious and performance-focused interior.
With an output of 550 PS and 700 Nm of torque from its supercharged V8 finessed with the Dynamic Launch function, it will dash from 0 – 100 km/h in 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 286 km/h.
Similarly, its dynamic and assertive design is now more compelling than ever, with a Black Pack option available for the first time.
In place of the Satin grey of the SV Exterior Pack, gloss black finish is applied instead to the grille surround, bonnet louvres, front bumper apertures, sill trims, and the rear valance and badges.
Aforementioned new Black Pack perfectly complements the optional 22-inch ‘Style 5117’ forged wheels, which combine a 5-spoke design with gloss black finish and Satin technical grey inserts.
Indeed, the F-PACE SVR also benefits from the suite of new technological functions, driver assistance systems and connectivity features offered in the core models.
All things considered, the F-PACE is available to order at jaguar.com with price tags of £46,765 (RM 269,851) for the F-PACE R-Dynamic Black, £40,675 (RM 234,704) for the core F-PACE range and £78,165 (RM 451,103) for the F-PACE SVR model.
