Subaru Forester: A Deep Dive Into Its Comparison Between Variants And Competitors

The Subaru Forester was released in 2019 by Motor Image Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s official Subaru distributor.

Five variants are up for grabs: the Forester 2.0I-L, 2.0I-S, 2.0I-S Eyesight, as well as the upgraded Forester GT Edition and GT Lite Edition. Prices range from RM139,788 to RM177,788.

According to the table below, the Forester 2.0I-L features keyless operation, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, pin code access, parking brake electronics, 17-inch alloy wheels, just to name a few.

Moving on to the 2.0I-S variant, it has the LED headlamps with C-shaped LED daytime running lights, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Special X-Mode, Cluster DIsplay, 18-inch alloy wheels, rearview camera, leather upholstery, auto levelling, paddle shifter and 12-volt power port upgraded from the base variant.

On the other hand, the 2.0I-S Eyesight gets the Eyesight system as well as additional safety features such as Pre-Collision Braking, Throttle Management, Lane Sway and Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Assist, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitor alongside the features from the previous 2.0I-S variant.

For the Subaru Forester GT Edition and GT Lite Edition, not much is added other than the availability of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the infotainment system as well as the body kit upgrade - which features front and rear bumper lip extensions, side skirts, roof spoilers and uniquely designed alloy wheels.

Compared with models from other brands such as the Honda CR-V, Nissan X-Trail, Mazda CX-5 and Mitsubishi Outlander, the Subaru Forester is a preferred option for space, as it offers plenty of headroom and legroom compared to other models. The X-Mode feature makes driving in different road conditions more seamless, thanks to the numerous configurations available.
