A Star-Spangled 70-Year Homage, Porsche Presents The 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition

Known for its perfection in many things, Porsche has manifested another special edition of its cars, the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition.
This 992-generation Porsche 911 is a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Porsche 356 America Roadster that debuted in 1952.

The America Edition comes in just one color, Azure Blue 356, which is a modern interpretation on the original blue of the first 356 America.
Signifying its moniker, the exterior paint features white stripe detailing along the sides of the body with an even smaller red stripe in the middle of it.

Then, looking at the wheels, they appear to be painted in just white with red outlining, but truly they have three different shades, akin to the silver wheels of the 356.
Giving this convertible a sleeker appeal just like the 356, the windshield bezel has been painted black. Tricking the eye into thinking the silhouette is slim and decorative.

Flipping to the rear, the model badge also has their distinct color. The ‘911 Carrera’ is written in white and the ‘GTS’ in Guards Red.
Interior-wise, it features a black base color detailed with three different shades, namely red, blue and Pebble Grey accents.

Uniquely, there is no numbered badge indicating the build’s limited-edition copy, but the word ‘America’ can be found spelled in traditional Porsche letters on the center console.
As this is an homage, the sills are inscribed with the years 1952, 1992 and 2022 to commemorate 70 years of America Roadsters. Not to mention, the ignition key’s color matches with the exterior.

Other small but significant details can also be found in the cabin, such as a white rev counter, a red shift pattern and different stitching all around.
Performance-wise, the America Edition harbors a twin-turbo 3.0-litre flat six engine that produces 473 hp and 569 Nm of torque.

Based on the preference for manual gearbox among American 911 buyers, said engine has been mated to a seven-speed manual, instead of a PDK dual-clutch automatic.
Furthermore, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) comes as a standard feature, and so is a sports exhaust system and the Sport Chrono Pack.

That’s not all, there are more options given. At an extra cost, the America Edition can be fitted with axle steering and carbon ceramic brakes.
Speaking of additional costs, the ‘extended interior package’ comes with a 12 o’clock marker in Guards Red on the handlebars and Guards Red cross stitching on the inside edge of the handlebars.

It also adds the two-tone stitching to the shifter boot and adds a gear pattern on the manual lever in Guards Red.
Pricing-wise, 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition tags at USD 186,370 (RM 823,010), which is about USD 36,000 (RM 158,976) over the base GTS Cabriolet.

That said, only 115 units will be produced, 100 for the US and 15 for Canada. It is slated to be off the assembly line by the end of 2022.
