The first ever all-electric Rolls-Royce model, the Spectre, has entered a 625,000 KM testing phase across perhaps one of the planet’s most picturesque locales - the French Riviera.

This, of course, is part of the premium marque’s on-going testing regimes for the ultra-luxurious EV before it launches in 2023. According to the famed BMW-owned marque, they are around 40% of the way through its planned 2,500,000 KM shakedown ahead of the Spectre's introduction.

This recent testing stint, which is the second of such long-distance shakedown’s undertaken, reportedly sees the marque fine-tuning its new electronic roll stabilisation hardware. This system can decouple the anti-roll bars on straight roads and recouple them when the Satellite Aided Navigation system detects an upcoming corner, thus promising the deliver on the brand’s promise of a ‘magic carpet ride’.

Additionally, Rolls-Royce also claims that Spectre is its most aerodynamic creation yet, boasting an improved 0.25Cd  drag coefficient figure that useful for both range and wind noise. Much of this stems from the Rolls-Royce incorporating the Spectre’s battery pack into its all-aluminium frame. The latter also sees Rolls-Royce claiming it to be the stiffest it has ever made by a factor of 30.

Rolls-Royce CEO, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, says that the Spectre now stands as the brand’s most highly-anticipated model yet. “This latest testing phase proves a suite of advanced technologies that underpin a symbolic shift for Rolls-Royce as it progresses towards a bright, bold, all-electric future,” he added.

Crucially, the exec also reaffirms that the first Spectre deliveries will begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. But before that, the Spectre still has another 1,000,000 KM of testing before the marque's engineers deem this project completed.
