A Baby Elephant Killed After Being Hit By A Car

An elephant calf died after being hit by a Perodua Viva in an accident early this morning on Km13, Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan here.

The calf died at the scene of the incident at 2.16 a.m.

According to Sylverter Saimin of the Lahad Datu Wildlife Department, the calf was crossing the road.

"The driver could not avoid the calf in time.

"The department performed a post mortem before burying the carcass today," he said when contacted.

The driver was unharmed but his car was damaged.
