- New McLaren X Bowers & Wilkins Px8 Headphones Unveiled
McLaren have teamed up with leading audio specialists Bowers & Wilkins recently, birthing a special version of the latter’s Px8 wireless headphones that’s been styled like that of the former’s supercars.
This effort sees both British brands celebrate their partnership that’s lasted since 2015, which saw Bowers & Wilkins fitting and optimising its renowned audio hardware in McLaren cars starting from the Artura plug-in hybrid supercar.
The Px8 McLaren Edition, as it has been christened, comes dressed in a Galvanic Grey and Papaya Orange colour finish. Underneath, the Px8 harnesses Qualcomm’s aptXTM Adaptive wireless technology plus all-new and bespoke 40mm Carbon Cone drive units. These units are said to be carefully angled to ensure consistent distance relative to the listener's ears from every point.
Said drives also work in tandem with Bowers & Wilkins-developed Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to deliver 24-bit high-resolution sound quality from leading streaming services. Other key features include noise-cancelling tech that uses six microphones to measure the output of each drive unit, react to ambient noise from the outside world, and deliver outstanding voice clarity with enhanced noise suppression.
Additionally, the Px8 McLaren Edition can connect with the Bowers & Wilkins Music App for setup and use. As for the battery, Bowers & Wilkins claims up to 30 hours of playback in between charges.
Of course, like the McLaren supercars it’s styled after, these special edition headphones by Bowers & Wilkins aren’t cheap at US$799 (approx. RM3,528.77) each. Surely, with Christmas around the corner, these would stand as ideal gift for any McLaren fan or owner indeed…
