PLUS has issued its Travel Time Advisory (TTA) for those who would be travelling this upcoming long Chinese New Year (CNY) holidays. Central Klang Valley residents heading north towards Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak and South to Johor from 19 Jan to 22 Jan 2023 are strongly advised to enter the highway before 9 am.

By following this TTA, they would avoid converging with those heading to closer destinations. This TTA which is a regular from PLUS is in view of the upcoming mass migration of over 2-million travellers on PLUS highways nationwide.

“The advisory is based on PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) analysis on previous festive season data and traffic patterns on the NSE. As such, the Travel Time Advisory (TTA) is also aimed at circumventing vehicles heading towards various destinations from converging at selected hot spot locations on the highway which can contribute to traffic congestion,” PLUS Chief Operating Officer, Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said.

Datuk Zakaria further added, “However, smooth traffic flow may be disrupted by accidents and other incidents on the highway."

Those who are travelling to closer destinations to Klang Valley are advised to travel from 12 pm to 4 pm. PLUS Highways analysis indicates that adhering to the TTA would help in easily highway traffic congestion providing for a smoother drive.

“As such, we strongly advised the public to plan their journey based on the TTA schedule not only for outbound journeys from the Klang Valley before the Chinese New Year but also for their return journey to Klang Valley after their holiday,” Datuk Zakaria explained.

In an earlier statement he also noted that, “It is important for highway users to use the same payment mode upon entry and exit of the highway. For example, if RFID is used upon entry, the user must then exit the highway also using RFID, similarly with Touch ‘n Go and SmartTAG. Using the same mode of payment will greatly reduce the possibility of congestion at the toll lanes. Another key tip is to make sure one’s e-Wallet (for RFID transaction) or Touch ‘n Go card has sufficient balance for travel,” Datuk Zakaria strongly suggests
