Following the special press preview, the Proton X90 three-row SUV is finally available for booking. The marque’s first-ever new energy vehicle (NEV) will arrive in four different variants, all powered by the same mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrain.

Said MHEV powertrain comprises of a 1.5-litre 3-cyl turbocharged TGDi engine that hooks up with a 48-Volt belt starter-generator (BSG) system, which is then mated to a seven-speed DCT gearbox to deliver a total system output of 187 HP and 300 NM. Proton claims this new setup is about 15% more efficient compared to the non-hybrid 1.5-litre 3-cyl turbo mill employed on the existing Proton X-series models.

Starting off with the baseline X90 Standard variant, it comes with full-LED headlights while riding on a set of 18-inch wheels as standard. On board, the Standard trim line sports fabric upholstery for all seven seats, while the front dash is primed with a 12.3-inch infotainment display with reverse camera display built-in. Paint options are limited to monochromatic hues such as Snow White, Armor Silver, as well as Jet Grey.

Stepping up to the Executive variant will add several equipment like the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), as well as powered seats for the driver. Speaking of seats, the Executive range swaps the fabric upholstery for leatherette ones, while the two front seats are ventilated. The reverse camera function is also being upgraded to include 360 Camera view with 3D Display.

For exterior colours, the Executive comes with two extra hue options – Cinnamon Brown and Red Ruby – on top of the aforementioned monochrome options.

For the upper-mid Premium variant, the X90 is finally primed with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite with features like Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), as well as Traffic Sign Information detection and Auto Park Assist system.

On the outside, the X90 Premium swaps the 18-inch wheels for the bigger 19-inch alloys. On board, things are getting more upmarket, as the leatherette upholstery is being replaced with Nappa Leather.

Other cabin equipment including wireless charger and powered seats for both front seats. Finally, the Premium model also comes with a new signature colourway – Marine Blue.

The range-topping X90 Flagship variant boasts all features from the Premium, while adding panoramic sunroof and ‘Boss’ switch for the front passenger power seats. But most importantly, this top-specced variant is the sole model coming in a six-seater layout, where the second row seats bench are swapped for two Captain seats.

Orders for the soon-to-be-launched Proton X90 are now open from April 8, 2023 onwards, where customers can place them at any Proton 3S/4S outlets nearby. As for now, Proton has yet to unveil the price list for the X90.
